I guess we ALL have bad antennas, cabling and amps, then.  Except for those that have cable - then it's TW's fault.

I call BS.

PS - At least you can't blame DirecTV for this one, huh. :D

It's kinda strange how I didn't have any problems until 58 decided to upgrade their equipment. So now I need to replace my antenna and cabling? :bang:

:huh?: I don't think so.  My antenna/cabling has been great with no issues like we are seeing today before you added METV to mix and sucked the bandwidth from 58-1.

So all of a sudden, everyone on the forum has equipment problems OTA, BUT only with CBS58?::huh?:

That dog won't hunt.

I have to agree that there is clearly something wrong with the OTA CBS 58 broadcast. I have not had any problems with CBS 58 OTA until recently. During the NCAA games, there were numerous dropouts and breakups that I have never experienced previously.

Gentlemen,
Have any of you with problems tried a full rescan of your receivers?

I haven't.  I will give that a try.  Thanks for the suggestion, Dan.

I'll give that a try and report after the games this weekend. Thanks for the advise Dan

I didn't even have to wait untill the games.  Rescanned and was watching Jeopardy (not even in HD) and the channel was breaking up like crazy.  You guys really need to look into this as you can tell by the comments on this forum something is really wrong with the broadcast of this station!

GBFan,
Did you do a "full" rescan?  For some models of receivers, this also means unplugging the unit for a minute and then doing the full scan as when you first set up the unit.  Some models have two types of scans and also for the various antenna inputs.
As for a problem with our equipment, other people on this forum have said they receive the signal with no problems and other people on this forurm we have asked to do a rescan have no problems either.  Our own various equipment at our transmitter, studio and employee homes have no problems and this equipment ranges from the oldest HD receivers to the newest $40 off coupon type receivers.  It is not possible for a receiver to have a clean signal if there is a problem with the transmit signal, but instead if a receiver is getting a clear signal, it means the signal is good.  I know you don't like to hear things like that, but it's basic troubleshooting.  Maybe you could explain your setup and what day exactly did you problem start?  I see that you have an HR21, which does not have OTA capabilities, so hopefully your Projection TV or LCD TV have an ATSC tuner.  I am still waiting to hear from other people also.

Thanks Dan for taking the time to help me out. No I didn't do a full scan. Never knew there was such a thing.

My newer LCD TV has an ATSC tuner but the projection tv doesn't (doesn't even have a HDMI input, but thats another problem). So all the testing has been on the LCD TV. Next week? when the AM21 comes out I hope to get one and hook it up to the projection tv. I'll try your suggetion when I get home. Maybe even look the the manual (now there an idea!). I will let you know the results..

I am new to this forum, so you'll have to excuse me if I missing missed out on the history or nuances of these posts, but I have a cheap set-top antenna connected to my D* HD receiver and have enjoyed watching the tournament (well, that would be until last night and has nothing to do with the technology but my alma mater's performance... ahem.... anyway) with little more than the typical drop outs and pixelation I always have to deal with (not intolerable given my low investment at this point). I live in Hales Corners and get crystal clear reception on EVERY Milwaukee OTA HD broadcast (except 58-1 of course). In short, I have experienced no change.

While I am here it seems this is an opportune time for me to throw out my plea to some apparent insiders who visit here from WDJT about their lack of HD presence on D*. I'll save that for a different thread so as not to disrupt the continuity of this discussion. My hope will be that someone reads it, and responds to me via the forum or directly to my private email address.

Good luck with your reception issues. I'd invite anyone to my house to watch the tournament in HD, but I'm afraid after last night my interest has significantly waned.

Welcome to the forum.  As for DTV/58 the best communication you can hope for from 58 is a standard email from a secretary.

58 increased their bit-rate today. The last time I watched was 8-13Mbps. Today is 10-16.5Mbps. Not much pixelations, but the picture is kind of soft.
