It's been a while since I visited the forum.  Picked up a Pioneer 5080hd TV.  I need to upgrade my service so I need the following.

Currently have 4 standard box and 1 DVR.

Need 1 HD DVR reciever, 1 HD reciever, and 3 standard recievers. Also I guess they will need to upgrade my dish.

I'm finished with my initial contract.  I know in visiting here in the past many have had luck with getting rebates/add ons.  If I go into my account online it seems they charge me for everything.  Any reccomendations. Thx

Why do you need to replace the SD boxes that you have now? My guess is you only need the HD DVR and an HD box plus new dish install.

The best deal is always to call D* and ask for customer retention if the 1st CSR won't offer a deal. It's been awhile but you should have a good chance at getting an HD DVR and HD box with dish upgrade for $0-$100 is my guess.

Your correct.  Don't need sd boxes.  I was able to get the equipment for no charge.  Have to pay $120 up front and they will credit me back $10.00 a month.  First time I called got someone nasty shouting at me all these prices.  Called back again as you mentioned and got tranferred a couple of times.  He basically said being I was with them for 3-1/2 years and had good pay history allowed him to do the no charge upgrades.  Also the fact that I was done with the original contract I'm sure helped .  He did give some song and dance about how the other companies (lets see Dish and Cable) are giving away equipment cuz they don't have near the HD channels D* does.

From what I understand from Dbstalk and other sat forums, the newest DirectvHD HD DVR, the HR21-100 is the best model, overall, (if you can find one) with the coolest, quietest operation.
-Add to that the newer Slimline 5LNB dish and you'll be "set" for DirectvHD,  unless you need the new add-on OTA box to integrate with it for your onscreen programme guide.
