TWC Reps Outright Lying About Uverse?

I was helping my neighbor shift from TWC to Uverse so I called TWC to cancel the service.  They asked why I wanted to cancel and I told them because their price was too high. (This is the primary reason my neighbor wanted to switch.) And that Uverse offered a basic TV, DVR, and Internet for significantly less money.

The rep told me that "Uverse service might be cheaper.  But they also charge a separate charge for the equipment."  Since I've been a Uverse subscriber for about a year and have never seen a separate equipment charge, I challenged the accuracy of that statement.  But she persisted, "They might not tell you about the extra equipment charges, but if you read the fine print, they are there."

Does Uverse have equipment charges I've never seen, or is this TWC rep simply lying through her teeth?

I think the rep is confusing Uverse with TWC. ;)

I pay for 2 dvr boxes & 2 dvr service fees with TWC. (The  double box charge I understand but the double service fee is crap, imho)

There were no equipment charges when I tried to have Uverse unless you need more than 3 boxes. Each additional box is $5 extra and you can have up to 7, I think.

That's a downright dirty lie.

3 receivers - including an HD DVR - are included with the 200 package and greater.

Sounds like TWC is running a bit "scared" about U-Verse appearing in more and more locations: Let the competition finally begin!
TWC relies on incorrect information and deceptive ads (TWC vs. satellite ads, for example) and this 'round with U-Verse is not at all surprising, at least to me.
Understand the advertising that TWC uses assumes Directv charges for local channels, which is does not, so it uses this as an advantage (Dishnetwork does), but it just calls it "satellite" to confuse potential subs.
Right now, I am digging around to see if Kenosha's moratorium on U-Verse is still in effect for this year.

Yup TWC lies every chance they can.  They are doing the same thing about Digital TV, telling callers that they have to have Digital cable (not true).

Of course Cuprisin blamed the callers for asking the wrong questions.

The deception is obvious,

But I don't think that there are enough knowledgeable people like those on this forum to question what TWC says to the general public.  If the fraud or deception was SOOOOOOO overt, you would think that the Better Business Bureau or FCC would get involved.  But it's not a BIG ENOUGH issue.  A big issue, where enough outside companies might get involved to protect consumers would be if Navigator is still horrible after being rolled out nationwide in the approximate 33 states serviced by TWC and the bugs are still not worked out.  Problem areas that still have bugs seriously could lose their franchises if proof was proven in a court of law that tons of people were being misled.

What repercussions or reprimands could these salespeople face for lying?  Or is it not so much that they are lying, but are being presented with false information.?  I will give some positive credit to TWC for their great Road Runner Internet Service and Digital Phone service.  But the sporadic (at best) performance with Navigator after almost two years of testing and their deceptive ads against the Dish companies are not exactly "kosher things." To be fair and strike a balance on the other side, how have U-Verse, Direct TV, and Dish Network been with "truth in advertising?"
