Okay, so I have a question for all of you out there.  I called TWC and told them I was thinking of pulling the cable service from them to go with DTV but was interested in staying with the RR service instead of going to AT&T for there Highspeed.  The guy I talked to gave me the old song and dance on how TWC is WAY better than DTV and the new Navigator is SOOO much better than the old guide system.  WHAT EVER!!!  Anyway he said I have the 7meg download speed and it would cost me $44+tax if I pull my cable out and just keep RR.  Now I ran a speedtest and I am a bit short of the 7megs but over all have been a happy RR customer for 6+ years.  I kinda feel that $44 bucks is a bit on the high side though.  Is that what the going rate is for RR now days?  Hell, before when I had just RR and had DTV for my TV I was only paying $19 a month for RR.  Granted that was a few years ago.

Any feedback would be great!

Thanks!

Yeah that's the standard cost.  If you switch to Earthlink as the ISP, you can get a deal for $29.95 a month for 6 months.  After that it goes up to $41.95 a month.  You'll still get billed by TWC, but on the bill it'll say Earthlink.

RR Lite (768k) is a little under $30 a month and I think they have a new 2Mb service but I'm not sure how much it is.

Wow, I must be getting cheap in my old age...  $44 a month ($528 per year) seems spendy to me?.

I think we've always paid right around $40-$45 a month even when it was under 3meg in 2000 or 2001.  AT&T Elite 6meg is $35 if you have a landline.

I have been playing RR and EarthLink switch for the past few years. I would sign up for their special and then switch back to the other when the offer expires. They always have a good deal for new subscribers. You'll never pay the regular price. I just switched back to RR when they had a $40 special for RR turbo.

The switch takes just few phone calls.

Does your email address change with each switch? Or would I be able to switch to earthlink and keep my email address?

I was going to ask the same question. Because I want to get earthlink but I was worried abount my email address.

I never use my ISP's email service. I have Gmail and a pay service. That way switching ISP  is painless. It better that way, not many people will have the same ISP for the rest of their life.

Google has a similar service for telephone number called Grand Central it's also free.

I have RR 7meg service and no cable TV and pay $39.95 monthly.  It's a promotional price for 12 months, but I have heard of many people calling Time Warner after the 12 months and they extend it another 12 months.

I think I've seen advertisements for RR as low as $19.95 a month.  When you call to cancel the cable TV service it certainly wouldnt hurt to ask for that price.  Especially since you are already leaving their cable service it would be really easy to threaten to leave them all-together if they cant get you a better price on the internet service.

I am paying $39.90 for turbo RR service w/o cable or phone (before taxes). From the looks of my bill I could go back to standard RR for $29.95 per month but I like the turbo RR.

Have 7mbs RR for $34.95 for 2 years already. They switched me to $44.5 but I called them, had a talk and was switched back to $34.95. If they will refuse next time, then I will install ATT DSL, finally they will be in our village this spring with UVerse rollout.

Please keep us(me) apprised of any information you can provide with Uverse coming to Muskego.

That pricing from TWC makes the U-verse pricing for the max tier (10/1.5) at $55 a month seem out of line....  Especially considering this is a bundled price from U-verse....

Makes me wonder if I should just switch to TWC for internet, even though I have u-verse television service...

Just got an ad in the mail yesterday.  $19.95 per month for 12 months guaranteed.  Offer expires 4/30/08  This is for 768k down & 384k up service level.
