Has anybody been on EngadgetHD.com yet today.  TWC just added History HD & NGC HD to the lineup in Green Bay/Appleton.  How the eff does a market half the size of the milwaukee area that is only an hour and a half away get these channels before we do.  I cannot stress how outraged I am right now.  As soon as my cell phone is fully charged I'll be getting on the phone with TWC and trying to get some answers here.

I spoke to a TWC supervisor named "Venton" who told me that these channels will come to Milwaukee when Milwaukee moves to switched digital (as Appleton and Green Bay allegedly have.) This same person told me that these "upgrades" will not be completed till sometime this summer.

The timing may be good news for those of us with TiVo HD and cable cards, as Motorola says they'll have the tuning resolver that'll let us watch switched digital by summer. We'll see.....

Well, I've spoken to two people at TWC today and neither of them really had any good news.

Kaneeta in the service dept just told me to be patient as more HD content is on its way soon.

Courtney in sales told me that the Milwaukee area should be upgraded to switched digital in April at which point we should start to see more HD cahnnels start to be added.

Doesn't Milwaukee TWC run NE Wisconsin's TWC branch also?  Why did they get it first??

I wonder what took them so long to upgrade to switched digital.  They have already been using it since we got ESPN2HD almost a year ago.  I wonder if it's really the Navigator roll out that's holding it up, since supposedly Passport couldn't handle SDV.

From what I understand, ESPN2HD wasn't switched digital. Those of us with CableCards were able to see the "On Demand" advertisements on the channel (instead of the proper programming). If it was switched, we wouldn't have seen anything. The reason we couldn't see ESPN2HD was because (for some odd reason) they didn't do the proper programming on the CableCards to authorize those channels until recently.

Now that San Diego TWC is finally getting Navigator dumped on it for the legacy 8300HD DVR boxes...okay...but before that they had SDV without it.
San Diego also has offered over a half dozen HD channels we don't have here in TWC Milwaukeeland, too: BEFORE NAVIGATOR.

TWC Milwaukee is a sham, IMO and TWC subs that don't even "think" of switching (if that can to other providers) are drinking way too much of the TWC "kool aid".
Back a few years ago, if I remember correctly, NE Wisconsin TWC got DVRs before we did here, too, but that was because this location was a test market as I understand it.

TWC locally will tell you want you should think and then you should just "roll over" and take it...but that's my opinion, of course.

Look at it this way - TWC vs. other providers:

When a HD channel becomes "TWC-Available" nationally due to a contract signing, at least one TWC location (or more) in the country gets that channel, right?

When Directv, Dishnetwork or even U-Verse gets a new HD channel:
Every HD subscriber can get it - no "begging" or hassle involved...true?

Directv & Dishnetwork are missing a real opportunity here with their advertising:

"New HD channels: No waiting"  :D
