Google just put up street view for Milwaukee. Now you can see what the city looked like before the snow. :)

I missed the Google van by 30 seconds. I can see my garage door was about to open.

For those of you considering a move to the Southwest, you should pick up the current National Geographic magazine.  The article that is pertinent is linked below.

Wow. I never thought that they would actually have driven up my lonely street. Based on the improvements I have done on my house, the photos of my street were taken Mid April of 2007.

I dunno.  This winter seems more like a "normal" Wisconisn winter than what we have been seeing for the last few years.  More like what we use to see in the 60's & 70's, IMHO.

One thing I've noticed in my five decades on this mortal coil is the number of people I've met who moved away from the upper midwest to avoid winter, very often end up moving back.  They all say the same thing... they miss the change of the seasons, the friendly people and family culture, good schools and general cost of living.

There is nothing better than that first warm weather break in the spring after a long winter, a cold beer on the Milwaukee lakefront at Summerfest, the shade under the wing of a warbird at EAA AirVenture at Oshkosh in the summer, and a crisp fall day tailgate at Lambeau field.

Makes all the cold and snow worth it.

But look at it this way; today at least we have big screen TV's and high-def (for the most part) broadcasts and DVD movies to enjoy.  Makes getting through the winter a little easier.
