Hi all...

At CES, Dish announced that they will be making 65 markets available in HD in 2008.  Does anyone know if Milwaukee will be included in the 65?  They have announced 11 cities so far and no Milwaukee!  :huh?:
Just wondering if anyone has heard or read anything.  I really don't want to hook up a OTA.

Thanks!

Why not have OTA with Dish?  The 622/722 has 3 tuners if you include OTA!  That means I can record 3 HD shows at the same time.  OTA gives me that third option to avoid conflicts.

Also, I wonder if they'll carry all the extra digital channels, and not just the HD ones.  You'll lose a few digital feeds that are not HD if you don't have OTA.

I really don't want to hookup an indoor OTA (my wife would kill me!).  I thought about having Dish hookup theirs for $49 installed, but do you know if they have to run another coax line from the Dish?  I want to avoid them running another coax line from the Dish.  How would this work?
Sorry if I sound  confusing, I'm new to this whole Dish/HD/OTA thing...:p

Yes there would be another cable, but why is that bad?  There are wires all over the walls in your house.  What's wrong with another one!

I'd get another wife.  The one you got is way to restrictive, and likely doesn't make for a good neighbor either if an antenna is something she is opposed to!  ;)

Seriously, if having it on the roof is really a problem, consider putting it in the ceiling below the roof.  Not seen, and if you are not too far in the boonies, it might work.

I live in Oconomowoc and can't put an outdoor antenna on my roof.  Can you recommend what would work for me?  Where to buy it?  And how to install it?

I have Dish and have been putting up with not getting locals in HD for far too long.

Thanks.

Amen brother.  Darn Dish Network.  I can't believe Milwaukee HD locals aren't available on Dish.

So today I went to Radio Shack and bought one of these...

Works pretty good!  I wanted to do without the extra cable runs from the Dish (due to Dish location).  I ran the line up to my attic and hooked it up to a wall plate and pretty good strength.  I'm in Waukesha and 15 channels showed up.  Strength varies from channel to channel.  60-80.

I am watching the Packer game right now in HD!  The signal has cut out once or twice.

GREAT NEWS!!!!!   This was posted on another forum....About time!!!

• DISH Network plans to launch HD locals in the following 21 markets in the first half of Q2 2008:

Austin, Texas; Baltimore, Maryland; Beaumont, Texas; Columbia, South Carolina; Fargo, North Dakota; Florence-Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Grand Rapids, Michigan; Green Bay, Wisconsin; Greensboro, North Carolina; Huntsville, Alabama; Jackson, Mississippi; Knoxville, Tennessee; Madison, Wisconsin; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Mobile, Alabama; Richmond, Virginia; Sherman, TX-Ada, Oklahoma; Tampa, Florida; Waco, Texas; Wichita Falls, Texas

If that happens, my half installed Uverse will stay that way. Lack of HD locals was the only thing thing keeping me from E*.

tbarney

I guess this is good news since I have E*, but I get all of the locals OTA so it won't be much of an improvement for me.

wait a minute... now I can point my local antenna toward Madison or GB for their locals (if they come in strong enough) and use E* to get the Milwaukee channels!!!

Hopefully they get something done but if not I'll still switch. I haven't previsously because we frequently dvr mutiple network shows at once.

I think I may have to agree on that.   Look at DirectTV!!!!
