Going on right now!

And he's so wrong on most of what he's saying...

But his lines are all busy... how frustrating.

He's making me nut's.

People who don't have the answers shouldn't prattle on about it.

Why don't people know about HDTV? Because they listen to Belling.

I didn't know 58 doesn't broadcast HD?!?!?

I didn't know that my Upconverting DVD player won't work on my 1080 TV?!?!?!?

:bang: :bang: :bang: :bang:

That feels better!

Tom Snyder

I have never been so frustrated... I'm listening to error after error, and can't do a thing about it...

I had the same thoughts listening to both the listeners and his take on the technologies.

I would have loved to call in and direct people to this forum and the AVS forum so they could get some legitimate information.

To lump all plasmas and LCDs together is just wrong, as was the talk about 720p and 1080i, as was the discussion about how to get HD, as was the discussion about cables, as was. . .well, there's no point in going on.

Anyway, if anyone is popping by the forum for the first time as a result of his program, welcome aboard!  There's plenty to read and learn about, and plenty of people to help you with answers.

You could try ignoring him, most people do!

Actually it is quite the opposite, he has the highest rated show in the market ( by a decent margin).

What types of things did he say that were wrong?

Man... where do we start?

58 doesn't broadcast in HD... 4,6 and 12 are the only ones who do.

There are no Bucks games in HD

Probably a little early to get an HDTV, as about the only HD is stuff like Discovery HD nature shows.

All the cables you need are incredibly expensive

Plasma is "better" than LCD

You can't install a flat panel yourself (no differentiation between Plasma and LCD)

That's all I remember as I was busy banging my head on my desk, trying to call but getting busy signals. I emailed him several times during the broadcast, and then sent him a laundry list of the incorrect info after the segment was over.

If he could be so wrong (and yet so confident) about this, kinda makes you wonder what else he might be wrong about... bad for his credibility.

It has nothing to do with intelligence. In this case Mark just doesn't know the subject well. But you know, my boss bought 6" HDMI cable in Circuit City not long ago for $100. I urged him to return it and directed him to do a search on Amazon and buy the d**n cable for $0.23 + shipping. It shows that some people just don't know the subject.
I like listen to Mark driving home, he is very entartaining. Sometimes he is wrong, but I find that in 75-80% cases I agree with him. And sometimes I want to turn the radio off because I don't agree with him.
And talking about intelligence - I find the most remarkable one about inventing the Internet.

Tom Snyder

Don't get me wrong... I also usually agree with him, and most of the time he's right. While he talks mostly about politics, when he ventures off on other topics (like sports, horse racing, etc.) he's equally impressive... and when he's not, he admits it.

Other than his take on the Internet back in the early days, I don't recall him ever being so wrong on a topic.

I wonder if he'll admit he was wrong this time.

You can usually get half the people to agree with your political views. But, with facts there is no room to spin them. Unless, you are a Best Buy employee.

Some politicians and talk shows hosts are just not intelligent enough to stay away from the technical field. Every time when there is technology Bill going through the House or Senate. You can usually hear someone making a fool of themselves during the debates.

Technology != intelligence. Period:D

It was driving me nuts too, especially the "1080 pixels are better than 760 pixels" that he kept mentioning.

Tom:

It wouldn't have mattered if you would have gotten thru. With Belling, he'll let you say one sentence, then interrupt you and continue making his point.
