I am hoping to get the attention of Steve Miller, our friendly American Sales Professional.....I am hoping he still visits occasionally,
Anyways, since I have this "American Connection" here at MilwaukeeHDTV.org, I was wondering if I could email you a question regarding a big ticket item purchase, and if there was any way to get a "discount" through you. Anyways if you could email me and I will give you all the details.
Mine: heebz6020@mindspring.com

Thanks
Matt

---if anyone would has his email, and would be willing to give it to me I would appreciate it!

Haven't you heard about something called "Loss Prevention"? ANY person, that purchases items from companies like American,Colders,Best Buy, etc. intended for others than themselves can be terminated for cause, as the "discount" offered to you would be the equivalent of "stealing". This would only apply it the equipment was never traceable to you. Which means you might be able to purchase it with an additional discount, but you would be voiding support or warranty of said item by the seller. Keep this in mind.

I understand this, but I also know that saleguys can give 10-15% discounts(as I have received many from various dealers), which is not totally out of this world. I was not asking him to do anything that would be considered illegal by the company for which they work. May places will give a percentage off for repeat buyers, or for big ticket items. All I was asking Steve if this was a possibility or not. I would prefer to patronize a fellow HDTV.org member, than some salesguy I didnt know.

Just trying to keep his job and your sanity when the set meltsdown (CRT bad, converg bad, etc.)!!! I have friends that got discounts and when the item needed work, the addresses did not match and warranty work could not be performed. One of my friends works at such " loss prevention " asks me to remind everyone of the situations that can occur. That's all.

Hello All,

First off.. I was let go from American due the current "Recovering" economy. So I personaly can not give any one a deal. But, by the same token I can tell you this: The "offical" line is that there are no "wheeling and dealing" with prices... thought June, July, & August are the SLOWEST months for sales in consumer electronics... and a salesman might be willing to budge to make they sale.. They have to eat too... If you don't neel to use the 0% interest for the whole term they the ads temp you with, or at all, ( i.e. Cash Price) you often can get a better deal.... You best bet is to go a couple hours before the store closes in the middle of the week, in the middle of the summer... and odds are you will find some poor bastard who has not make a sale all day, that is when you will find your "deal".....

Matt, thanks for thinking of me... sorry I can't help...

and GParris, Thanks for looking out for me...

If there is anytthing I can do to help let me know.. I am still buddys with my former co-workers, and if shopping at American I can recomend a good Sales Guy that will take good care of you...

For what it is worth, I work part time in the electronics department at Colders.  Steve is very much correct in his statement that the summer months are the slowest of the year.  We are also between model years for televisions and other consumer electronics.  We have new models on order and coming in and are wanting to get rid of old models.  Now is a fairly good time to make a TV purchase.  I know we are offering some good deals and may be willing to wheel and deal a little as well.

I work Monday and Friday nights and Sundays at the Oak Creek Colders.  If anyone wants to contact me outside of this forum, I can be reached at jelobean@execpc.com.  I check this mailbox once a day.
