I am not sure what they are getting at by the caption on the graphic. Is it suggesting that there either needs to be more service boxes in low income areas, or that there are plenty already.

So, I have a comment here. If you have a low income (below the poverty level), you probably need to spend your money on something other then cable or sattelite TV service, like feeding your family or getting a better education, so you can earn more money.

OTA is free still the last time I checked. Goverment subsidies for low income people should not go toward paying cable or satellite TV bills.

Sorry if I offended anyone.

I think the intent of the graphic and the thread starter was to explain that U-Verse is not just going for the "gravy" areas for installation base.
Many telecos aim for only the mid-to-higher end income zones when they install new cabling.
This is not always the case with U-Verse, as there is representation in the lower-end income demographic, that's all, good for U-Verse, good for the consumer.
Cablecos have to serve all income areas and with the telecos, that is one of cable's bigger complaints is that sometimes telecos take the easier route when they install neighbourhoods:
Those that will reap the most benefit from having their services/install base.

I am on 60th and Wells in Wauwatosa, about 7 blocks from AT&T's central office on 68th and Maple, and they still do not have U-Verse available by me....

....still patiently waiting for U Verse to show up in Muskego. :bang:

According to that map, I have a box less than a block away... Yet I still don't show as available for service on AT&T's sign up.

I've noticed that two of the boxes that show up in the graphic as low income are actually located where there have been hundreds of $250K and up condos buit in the last two years. I think their low injcome chart might be out of date.
