How the US Government Holds Back Innovation

After having much experience with TW and Charter, its is clear to me that somethin's rotten in the state of Denmark.   Let's go back to circa 1987 when Zenith released it fully digital hdtv system.  This was a fully working system.  We are now 20 years later and we still don't have a fully working hdtv system.  Because of US government control of media, hdtv was not rolled out in the way a free market would do it, and Zenith had to sell itself to LG (of South Korea).  Now we have set top boxes full of problems and lacking needed features because the US government granted what is effectively monopolies to cable companies, and monopolies do not have any incentive to create innovation for the consumer.  I am surprised TIVO is still around given the monopolistic obstacles it has run into (R.I.P ReplayTV).  So here we are today were only 22% of dems and 25% of reps think free trade is good for America and the world.  Also, 25% of Americans think the sun revolves around the earth (no joke, look it up).  I don't see much hope of improving the situation.  No wonder piracy is so popular; not just driven by price, but also a lack of features and constant bugs with the "approved" equipment.  :bang: :bang: :bang:

That's the Government  for you. I'm sure you know how they held back hybrid cars the same way. Those hybrid cars from many years ago was pretty much destroyed, because our Government wanted us to continue to buy oil.
