I wanted to post this in the time to switch forum but it seamed to be too off topic so I thought I'd start a new thread instead.

There is some discussion there on the different VOIP services that memebers are using and I like to know if they are all created equal.

I remember in the early days of VOIP that you couldn't fax consistantly and you had to pay extra for fax capabilities.

I know that pretty much all early VOIP systems utilized the same chipsets in their VOIP equipment and that caused some of the limitations. We do fax from time to time and TWC VOIP service has worked for faxing and everyday use as a "normal" phone service.
Since I'm in a package deal, I'm paying $22 for my service.

What are your experiences?

VoIP services are not created equal.  The differentiators are not necessarily with the edge hardware in the home, but with the network elements behind it.
In that regard, TW (or any cable operator based system) will in virtually every case will be more robust than anything else out there.  Knowing this, I wouldn't go anywhere else than TW, especially for the price you quoted.

Most voips charge extra $10 for a dedicated fax line if that's important to you.

I can fax using fax to pdf on my computer. But, I didn't have any luck with a regular fax phone. Since I didn't pay for a fax line.

I always went for the cheapest voip and I never ran into any service problem that lasted for more than a few hours at the most. I never tried TW, but all the voips I have tried are about the same reliability wise. From what I have read, ATT is probably the best voip. It helps if you owns most of the networks.
