I don't know how long this deal will last, but Amazon is offering the HD-A3 for $199 today.  The player is packed with 300 and The Bourne Identity, there's the mail-in offer for five more movies, and Amazon will also send you three more movies for free.

The movies available are:

   Hot Fuzz (Highly recommended!)
The Departed
Top Gun
Face Off
The Big Lebowski
Pride & Prejudice
Shooter
Knocked Up
The Shining
Goodfellas
The Last Starfighter
Letters from Iwo Jima
The Phantom of the Opera
Casino
The Fountain
Dragonheart
Meet Joe Black
Rio Bravo
The Searchers
Happy Feet
A Clockwork Orange
Eyes Wide Shut
Blades of Glory

Although the player twice the price as the Walmart deal, the extra movies may make this almost as good of a deal, since some of them are usually sell for more than $25.

I've said it before, but this is a fantastic time to be an HD movie fan!

Bah, the one that is 1080P is still $311. Still not a bad idea.

I've been holding out hope for an inexpensive combo player that can do Blu-ray and HD-DVD but this deal is WAY too good to pass up.

Granted, the free DVD selection is not the greatest but you get roughly $200 in HD-DVD's for free.  I'll just have to make room for the blu-ray player when they come down in price so that I can watch all the content from the studios in that camp.

If you miss the Amazon deal you can try and get the Toshiba A3 at Sears on Friday mornings Black Friday deal.

Yeah I was looking at the Sears deal but it doesn't come with the movies.

Good point. The Sears deal only will get you 5 free movies via mail in as apposed to the 10 you get from Amazon.
I just thought I'd point out the Sears dela in case the Amazon deal runs out of supply...... which will probably be very soon at that price.
Black Friday deals are first come first serve so who really wants to go to Sears at 5 in the morning anyways.......

The nice thing about the Amazon deal is that you get five movies to watch right away, while you'll have to wait for the five from Toshiba (mail in offer).  Borne and 300 packed right in the box are great way to enjoy the player the day you get it.

For those interested in behind the scenes stuff, I highly recommend the 300 PIP feature.  Watching the finished movie along with the blue-screen version in a window really gives you an appreciation for what they accomplished in the movie.

And the film ain't too bad either.  :)

This is a really good deal for a whole-family Christmas present.

I wonder if this is indicative of who will win the format war?

Believe it or not, the price of the A3 has dropped to $159.98, and you still get all 10 free movies!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This officially blows away the Walmart $98 deal.

If you purchased this player at the higher price, and it's still listed at $159.98 on their website, you can call Amazon to get a refund for the differnce.
QuoteAmazon.com's prices for released items will change from time to time based on a variety of factors. If Amazon.com's price for an already-released item decreases within 30 days after we ship the item to you, we'll be glad to refund the difference in price if you contact us.
You can call them at 866-216-1072.

Good luck!

I called them and they are having "system issues" so they are not able to credit me right now. I wonder if it was a screwup on the pricing and they are trying to chagne it. One amazon.com page lists it for 179, the other 159, so just to be safe I took a screenprint of the price which I'll use as justification that I should have a $39 credit.
