TWC HD DVR does not power on to previous channel...

My TWC HD DVR's ALL don't power on to the last channel that was being viewed when the HD DVR's were turned off.  It defaults to the TWC "how to" channel that is usually displaying "how to's" or the local TWC anti-drug "Hangin' tough" contests.  I've gone into the settings and have made sure that the power on channel is set to previous or last channel.  It just doesn't work on ANY of my HD DVR's.  Anybody else with this problem?  What could be causing this?  I'm really sick of the TWC problems with few HD channels.  I may be moving to Direct TV...

Assuming your HD DVR is the 8300HD, not the 8300HDC with Navigator software, try the following:
-Find and push the "settings" button on your cable box remote control
-Then push the yellow triangle marked "A" for "More Settings"
-Use the up and down buttons on the remote to find the "Power on channel"
-Select an HD channel you like that is always HD (I use 541 for Discovery's "HD Theater")
-Once the channel you selected is displayed on this screen, press the "Exit" button.
Next time you turn the box on (it's always "on", you are putting the display part in standby mode with just the clock or channel showing all the time).
The TWC boxes always are sent out with the Channel 1 as the default channel.
I am surprised the CSRs at TWC didn't at least KNOW this, but then again....:D

Good idea, but it doesn't solve my issue of wanting the last channel I was on.  If I turn the HD DVR off on channel 54, I want it to be on channel 54 when I turn it on.  If I turn the HD DVR off on channel 506, I want it to be on 506 when I turn it on.  Why isn't this working on my HD DVR's?  I'll try your idea to at least see if the power on channel works.  Thanks :)

Just follow the above instructions but choose, power up on last used channel.  I've had mine set like that for almost 2 years and always comes up where it was.

That is how it is set on all 3 of my HD DVR's, and it does not work on any of them.  I can't believe that all three of them are defective, and I KNOW I didn't set them wrong (I'm an advanced AV user).

FWIW, when a box reboots, it ends up powering on to channel 1.  With all the rebooting going on lately, maybe this is your problem!?  Is it just the first time you turn it on for the day or do you turn it on, tune to 506, turn it off, and turn it back on only to find it on channel 1?
