Quote from: tencom;41980Lets talk about how much money RUPERT MURDOCH is going to make from the BTN he got the Big Ten to put up the money and he  owns half of the BTN and he already has 37 Billion dollars and pobably more by now. This is all plot by Rupert to make him even richer, and you guys fall for it. And he isn't even an AMERICAN
He speaks with an Aussie accent

Yes Rupert has a lot of money and will continue to make a lot of money.  But don't act like TWC is penniless.  They make billions.

The bottom line is both DirecTV and TWC have plenty of money.  But only TWC is pretending to be concerned about their customers.  Anyone who has ever had TWC knows how funny that is.

It's almost as funny as someone coming on this thread to complain about people who complain on this thread ;)

Quote from: Mark Strube;42011Or come to watch in the Palladium at the Marcus Majestic in Waukesha. I'll be running it on our Sony 4K on a 30ft screen.

(Yes, we have beer in there.)

How is this even legal? Does the theater have a commercial license from D* or something like that? Too cool if that's so. I'm curious how this works and the admission price for viewing, is it advertised, please more info.

We have a partnership with AT&T, which allows us to play it from either U-Verse or DishNetwork, since AT&T is partnered with them both. I like having backup feeds. Admission is free, full wait service, no item minimum. (Although the food is pretty tasty, I think you'd be nuts to not order anything.)

It is however first come first serve, and it seats around 180... doors open at 10am, I'd get there right around that time, even earlier if possible. It will sell out. We'll be running it on another screen for overflow, but that one will have no wait service, and of course it's not on the 4K.

that is cool, if I didn't have D*, I would check it out. I have passed the word to friends that need a place to watch the game (I did invite them over but some know that my house is too small for their whole gang). I suppose the Majestic also does this for Packer games just like Potawotamie does?

I'm rather surprised your partnership with AT&T extends to their content providers as well. I mean, it'd be like me borrowing a DVD from a someone, then without telling that person, handing it out to whomever I like... the owner of the DVD might be a little annoyed, I'd think.

Then again, if that's what your contract says, it's AT&T's mess to figure out if they weren't supposed to grant permission, and not your problem. :D

The Rosebud In 'Tosa has been showing Packer games for years on their screen. I myself have not checked it out, but I have heard it is pretty cool. I might just have to grab my WI-Mad alum brother-in-law and check it out at the Majestic even though I have Directv (should I actually take a seat way from some poor old TWC customer though ???  )

Nobody at TWC has 37 billion. Oh maybe your talking about TED TURNER he once had 10 Billion dollars, But he gave most of it away and all RUBERT MURDOCH does  with his money is buy up more of America and his arrogance is well known. Stories abound about RUBERT MURDOCHs arrogance he puts money and power first.

Ok we get it Rupert has money.  Quit acting as if TWC is the Little Sisters of the Poor.  They charge more for less.   Most of us on here have dumped them or are thinking about doing so.  You would think if they want to get into a big public relations battle with the BTN and NFLN they would at least use flacks who have prepared a little bit.  Every time they "defend" themselves they only cement their Bozo the Clown  image.   If you are happy with them great. But don't portray them as some poor little company that is only trying to do the right thing for their customers.

tencom,

I heard a story not too long ago about some guy in the Pacific Northwest working on World Domination, with a recently estimated net worth of over 56 BILLION dollars.

Are you using a MAC or a PC?

Who cares how much money he's making, isn't that the idea? He who has the most wins?!!

AndrewP

What is a point in counting other people money?
Rupert can do what he wants to do with his money. He helped BTN, so what is wrong with that. He will make some money out of that. So what.
In meantime I can't complain, I can watch BTN in HD.
BTW, TWC created sports network of his own, and it is not HD. They managed to land a deal with Marquette basketball. Did they offer that channel to D* or E*? Probably they want to make some money out of that channel?

vegasvic

The Marquette package TWC got is not in HD?

Maybe, but the original thread was TWC sucks and that seems to still be the recurring theme except for the Rupert bashing that somehow defends TWC?!?:D :huh?:

vegasvic

I guess the argument is "Yeah maybe TWC does suck but at least they aren't owned by Rupert".  :huh?:
