A nice increase, though I think that Toshiba is now out of the "2" series or second generation HD DVD players by now, due to this "clearance sale".;)
The HD-A3 and HD-A30 models are about the same as the 2's for the most part.
Some reported some discounting of the A3's once the A2's became out of stock.
-The newest model, the HD-A35, offers the HDMI 1.3a connectivity and 7.1 bitstream output, but offers no HQV chip for superior DVD upconversion as the HD-XA2 model.
While the PS3 population still (as I understand it) is larger, many owners do not either know or care about its Blu-ray capabilities, yet it is there, nonetheless.
HD DVD, with this uptick in player ownership, has got closer to penetration in HDTV owners homes and was bought as a player, but has a way to go, IMO.:D

I'm proud to be one of the 90,000:rock:

I've seen some pre-black Friday posts and they're saying Sears and others will be selling the HD A3 for ~$150.

flash, not discounting anyone buying them.
I wonder what Toshiba has up its sleeve for the future, too.

If I had the cash for another one, I'd probably bought it.;)

My money is on the A-35 to see if any HD DVD really offers any 7.1 output through HDMI, but it is selling for a lot more than $99.:D

From what I've been able to find out, I think Toshiba is about to release or maybe already released their new models HD-A30 and the HD-A35. So they maybe just getting rid of old inventory.

You can get and HD-A30 from almost any big box store already.

The HD-A35 is available at some higher end stores already, too.
Since it claims 7.1 bitstream output with HDMI, it will be great to see if it works
-but no HD DVDs I know of offer more than 5.1 output for audio, at least yet.

As for the HD-A30, it is very similar to the HD-A20, just a different appearance.

Ah ok thanks.

Hey, I was just doing some research.

-I am trying my best to manage the list in this forum for high def players in a sticky-ed section for just this very subject.:D
