That is exactly what I mean, I'm not talking just cable here. I have all my DVR and audio. I have set tops and to add a Direct TV to the list basically mean I would have redo the years of work and who knows what new cables I would need to get. I'm just not ready to invest that way right now. Maybe when I replace my Hitachi in a few years.

And TWC knows this about their customers and that is one reason they never feel the need to respond to competition quickly - the inconvenience of switching helps big time in customer retention.

New cables are pretty cheap if you look at one of this site's sponsors or monoprice.

Ah, how long after TWC added ESPN-HD did it take to get ESPN2-HD? TWC Milwaukee will never catch up to the HD offered by satellite now.

RLJSlick

Yeah I know, that is why it takes TWC so long to do anything. There isn't real need to do anything to quickly, because they know people won't abandon their equipment without a lot of thought.
I really hope to replace my TV by next summer, and then I will decided then what I should do. Though TWC is being painfully slow they are finally doing something.

Ricky: What?
What are they doing?
Adding more HD channels in other locations around the country, like North Carolina?
Not here!
Now, remember, TBSHD was added to almost every system, cable or not, in the country, so it was no big deal.

I could easily add an HR20 (if the price was right) to each of my racks and I have space for it with my AVRs:
-so no, that is not the problem for me, its just having two bills (TWC for local HD and DirectvHD) and of course this is because:
-no CBSHD or CWHD locally from Directv like my neighbours down the road have in Chicagoland.;)

Most folks don't have the room or want to reconfigure their HT racks or setups, I do understand that, however.
But maybe after the beginning of the coming year and TWC hasn't added at least 10 or so new HD channels, they may desire to do so by then.:D

G I know that, but things take time, my point is I don't want to think short term, what is great now may not be that great a few months from now. I do believe TWC in time will do something big, I may not be around to see it, but I think they will have enough pressure to be force to.
I think in the long run cable may win out, because I know that they will have the potential of huge bandwidth with all the new fiber technology coming out.
I'm just trying to be practical and patient, at lease until I get my new TV!

Cable is already supposed to be a Fibre/Coax based system, whereby the fibre runs past your house and the coax cable from the pole or box (going underground) runs to your premises, already. This is what TWC advertises as its advanced fibre system.

Most cable companies offer the options of high speed internet and phone services that satellite cannot compete with, but not everyone wants to combine their services.
Some folks I have worked with have a dish based TV platform in their homes (D* or E*), use only cellphones (no landlines or a really cheap local-only service) and do internet with RoadRunner - and that's it for cable for them.

Cable could in theory, offer many more HD channels, but so far, it doesn't seem to be as interested.
Cablecos think, IMO, that everyone wants phone service and on-demand cable (something again satellite is trying now to offer):
It may be right, but HD service is very important, too, especially with dish services offering dozens more HD channel options lately and more HDTVs sold than ever before.

Ricky: Let us know when you are getting a new HDTV and what display type you are looking for, including what size, when you do, okay?

RLJSlick

Thanks buddy I sure will. So far I really love that 61" Samsung HL-T6187S, I'm also looking at the Hitachi 60VF820, but it's still early.
I first have to decide on Blu-Ray or HD-DVD! players. Man it's gonna be a great Christmas!!!
