When will Time Warner end analog cable?

I know that the 2/09 switchover to digital won't affect analog cable subscribers (at least, as I understand it) but when does everyone think Time Warner will end the analog cable and force everyone to rent the digital cable boxes to get their cable service in any capacity?

Actually, I believe that the FCC just gave them an extension to 2012 for cable carriage for analogue channels and 2009 for OTA transmissions.
Many folks do not have convertor boxes to change digital cable transmissions to analogue for internal use on their sets, but newer HDTVs and digital sets (smaller, usually tube displays) have QAM tuners instead.
Cable is contractually bound to keep certain analogue channels up to the time they can send out only digital cable access only, so the channel must be up and running in analogue for those subscribers with analogue only internal tuners.
This is why in the Comcast areas south of us in Illinios, where the bulk of analogue channels are going digital, set tops are becoming more prevalent, a few of these channels remain for those without STBs in analogue.

-Maybe this answers your question.

Ah! Yes, it does. I have a 9 year old TV which I get Time Warner's analog cable through and I'm quite happy with it so this is good news! :)

9 years old????  Just think you could use that as an excuse to buy a new HDTV!!!

I could, but I'm really happy with it. HDTV is great and everything but not enough of a reason for me to buy a new TV. The only thing I don't like about my TV (a 32 inch Zenith) is that it's really heavy.

Heck; if you're shocked by that; we have a big screen TV from 1988 that's positively a dinosaur! :)
