8300HD Losing Recorded Show Listings

First my parent's box lost power.  When power was restored, and you hit "List", it showed an old set of recordings (from late August).  I assume what happened is that when the box got corrupted, the list was lost, and was restored from a backup list...  I don't see the point, however, of keeping a backup list if it is as old as late August.

My parents lost all the recordings on their box.  Being premiere week, and not having seen them yet, I told them I'd hook up my cable box for them, so that they could watch House.  So I turned off my cable box, unpluged it, and plugged it into their TV... and the *same* thing happens to me.  Suddenly my newest recording is from Sept 7th.  All my recent recordings are GONE.

We have to original 8300HDs, without the new Navigator software... has anyone else experienced anything like this?  Any brave souls wanna unplug their box and find out if they lose all their shows when they plug it back in?

This happened to me just the other day.  Although, to the best of my knowledge, there was no power outtage and I did not unplug or reboot my box.  I have two 8300HDs and my upstairs box simply had an empty listing the other day.  I had about a dozen things recorded and all seemed to disappear.

This had happened to my parents in Racine at the beginning of Summer.  It upsets me a bit but I understand that things can happen.  One little "glitch" on the drive and the table of contents gets screwed up.  Without a file allocation table, the software doesn't know what's there or where it is and thus reports nothing.

Yes, but paying a DVR "service" fee for two boxes (if it were really a service, I'd only have to pay for it once) they should at the very least keep backups on their end of the database on the box.  I understand they can't backup the shows themselves -- but even if they just did a backup of the database so that if you called them and reported something wrong they could just send over the backup to your box.

Just for the record the same thing happened here as well. I don't know if the box rebooted or power was out. One day I hit the 'list' and it was full of shows from back in August and anything I'd recorded recently was gone. Happened a few weeks ago.

When I tried to view any of the 'new' shows that had been added back to the list I just got 'this program currently unavailable'. I just deleted them all (again) and anything recorded 'new' from that point on was just fine.

Not sure what was going on...

Same thing happened to me.  I was glad to see this post as I had no idea what happened.  I was lucky enough to have not lost any critical shows.  Most of the recorded shows that I lost were from HBO or Showtime where I could watch them on InDemand.
