I'm getting TWC digital cable with HDTV and HD package. Noticed a couple months ago that channels 518,524, and 528 came on. Theres more or less than nothing on 518 or 524, not worried about them. But on my set 528 ESPN2 theres only advertisements for digital cable OnDemand. I thought that was strange so I looked up services on web, did show ESPN2. Called customer service, who said nobody in Milwaukee receives ESPN2 on Time Warner Cable. Is that correct?  I think there just making excuses. I'm using a cablecard on a Sony DVR as cable box.
Who knows whats really going on? Are they going to put ESPN2 on at a later time?

Hate to tell you the following:
1) TWC CSRs are clueless idiots, okay? Don't believe them because their boss doesn't believe in training them, or offering HD channel additions...period.
2) CWHD (channel 518) is available only during the primetime showings on the CW network and currently, the HD Encoder per our forum's Jimboy is out of service so you will get a rather decent digital picture, better than TWC crappy analogue 18, but that's it.
3) MyNtwkTv HD (channel 524) is mostly digital-only, sometimes it coughs up HD programming, but usually not many times (a month).
4) TWC Milwaukeeland uses SDV for ESPN2HD, so if you have a cablecard, you are screwed, you cannot get it since SDV(switched digital video) does not work with one-way cable cards.
As Directv and Dishnetwork add capacity and sign contracts for more HD channels, SDV has been heralded as the "saviour" for allowing TWC to deliver more HD channels, but in reality, TWC has done nothing for HD channel additions, unless you live in San Antonio, TX...U-Verse's headquarters!

-Welcome to the real world of TWC Milwaukee-enjoy!:D

No other service offers cable cards yet  Mr. Gharris wants cable cards and more HD channels  for TWC a service he probably does not subscribe to. Doesn't he realize you can't have both because of bandwidth requirements after all a few years ago TWC invested several million dollars to upgrade to a Hybrid Fiber Coaxial system. And now wants TWC spend even more to upgrade to a greater  bandwidth so Mr. Gharris can have his HDTV.
I believe there are more important concerns then how many  HD channels TWC has and for him to partake in serious dicussions of other meaningfull topics instead of rambling on and on about the same repetitive subject. It's starting to get a little annoying!

Its gparris, sir, and if you think I do cable cards - think again, I know of their features, or lack of, so get off my back.
I subscribe for THREE 8300HD DVRs and have been waiting for TWC Milwaukee to offer more HD channels, as other locations and cable companies have been doing for the past year or so.
Further, I subscribe to ALL the HD and SD channels except for the sports pack : YOU DON'T KNOW ME.
If it is getting annoying to you, you probably work for TWC and don't like the truth about how bad your company is in adding more HD channels in the Milwaukeeland area and you should not read them  - or seek another employment position.
I don't really care what promises or reasons TWC has at this point in time, as to why it hasn't got its act together, neither do many in this forum who are subscribers
 - and I speak for many of them.:D
Cable cards will not get you ESPN2HD, so there-I answered-it.
IF you got an constructive answer to mikeal21's question, instead of badgering me, please feel free.

Quotemore important concerns then how many HD channels TWC has
Actually, one of the foundational concerns of this entire site since it began as a Yahoo group over 6 years ago has been how much HD programming is available to us.

Back then, it was pretty much MPTV, Jay Leno and HBO HD (via Dish and DirecTV)... period. The technology discussions began primarily because the primary conduit for TV in Southeastern Wisconsin didn't offer ANY HD to the market, and so we had to find other ways to get our HD. OTA and Satellite provided us with a solution, but unfortunately was one that slowed its growth by keeping it out out the mainstream and making it the realm of tech-geeks like us.

And while TWC has made strides (and I think us old timers will all agree that it wasn't fast enough) the Satellite services have held the advantage in the area of number of channels in HD. In recent years, TWC has had an advantage because their carriage of HD locals before the satellite services did, most of us with satellite were already getting the locals OTA, so it wasn't a big deal for us.

With 70 more new HD channels beginning their rollout on DirecTV next week (and I tested my signals yesterday on that satellite and transponder, and they are solid...so it IS coming), one the most active discussions here will again be how many HD channels TWC has.

And while cable card discussions, HD DVR's and HD DVD make up a meaningful part of the dialogue here, if people don't like the discussion of the comparative amounts of HD available via the various services, I'd wonder why they're even here.

I appreciate all information. But The next time I call TWCrooks, I need some facts. As they I believe will say anything....I thank you.

Yes, anyone who has a box receives ESPN2 HD.  Cablecard 2.0 will allow you to receive the channel, but it's not available yet and will most likely require new equipment.

:

I Have never been or never had, and never will have, a  relationship as a paid employee of TWC. I have one advantage, over you that is I can survive without HD.

louisd13

While We all can survive without HDTV, this is the  MilwaukeeHDTV forums and I, along with many others are down right bitter at the lack of new HD Channels that TWC have offered over the past few years.  I am just holding on for U-verse in Kenosha, then I can kick TWC to the curb!

I believe you will see some action  on TWC HD front later this year,  they switched channels 77, 78  from analog to digital  and they just  closed channel 76 also they  added   several channels above channel 116,  all in the digital mode  they useally add new channels near the end of  the year. And  the only people that I know that have HDTV none have cable or satelite, but depend on a pair of rabbit ears for reception.

So if TWC analogue channels 76-77-78 are either closed, deleted or switched to SD digital, maybe sometime before the end of the year, TWC HD subs could get anywhere from 6-9 HD channels added to the system, assuming 2-3 HD channels can fit into one analogue TWC channel-great.

Near the end of every year, TWC Milwaukee likes to add something, though I don't remember anything this past year whatsoever for HD channels.

If SDV and maybe rateshaping, etc. are used, maybe 3 HD channels per analogue channel eliminated (could this be a possiblity?) could occur soon.

Afterall, the HD channels that I list in my signature that we are missing locally, are already being offered in at least one, if not more, TWC systems someplace right now, so why can't we get at least some of them, if not all of them, right?

mikeal21

Well TWC is taking in our monthly fees so why would they care? I also came to the found they shorted us ESPN classic. Was on 29 they switched to 116 digital. Now theres a real complaint!!! I immediately took that complaint to our wonderful BBB online, which TWC is a member, good news.
Got a call the very next day WOW. They knew they were in the wrong and gave me digital sports pkg. for one year.
VICTORY IS MINE:rock: where's the champagne!

Too bad I couldn't get ESPN2 HD outta that. Maybe the 24/7 soccer channel will be of some consolation.
Till next year anyway. I just wish these clowns would get off there keesters  and do something to earn those high charges. They all benefit  from there monopolies.
Hard to think of the way we complain about high gas prices. We wage useless wars to keep those prices inflated.
