What channels are there really supposed to be?

OK, been here a while, but now is the first time I really cared about what actual stuff I "should" get compared to what I do.  Back when HD first started, I remember having to scan a lot as they were popping up over that first year.  Then I gave up and waited for a decent HD recorder instead of live TV.  Got one now.  :guitar:   Looking at the home page, I see some differences.  Is there a more up to date source for what channels exist?

For example, it only shows 5 channels for channel 10.  There are 8 (with nothing on most of them).  I also only see 58.2, no 58.1 was found.  I forget which, but either 18 or 24 didn't get found either.  I don't have them all memorized yet.  The home page also shows 55.1 only.  I see a few more.  Lot's of ions in the air.

Also, what else is close?  Any updated list to check weekly for that?  I get 5 (Green Bay?) and 9 (WGN, so I know it's Chicago) and seems like there was an 8 or 7 channel that I saw.

How often should I re-scan?  Weekly, Monthly, wait for someone else to find something and hear about it?

Verified things last night.  Did a rescan found 58.1 plus both 24.1 and 18.1 are showing up.  So now I get what I think are all of the locals.

The channel 5 turned out to be Chicago also.  But last night, all of them went away.  Must have been a good propogation night Sunday to get them so well.  That other station was called Tube.  It is also no longer strong enough to pick up. Not sure where it is from, but probably also Chicago direction.

Tube (music tv) is 9.2 out of Chicago and I think 9.1 is Chicago's WGN.  I get Chicago locals sometimes with good (lets see if I spell this right) tropospheric ducting.

For MKE - You should get

4.1 NBC
4.2 NBC Weather
6.1 Fox
10.1-10.8 MPTV, PBS KIDS, Weather etc
12.1 ABC
18.1
24.1
36.1 MPTV HD
58.1 CBS
58.2 WMLW? Something like that

I think thats all of them.
Sony KDF-60XS955 - Living Room
Samsung LN32A450 - Master Bedroom
Samsung BDP-1600
Samsung DVD-HD850
DirecTV HR-21
DirecTV H-20
DirecTV R-22

Add to the list of MKE, although, I never watch these stations:
55.1-55.4 (Ch 55)
22.1 (Ch. 30)
49.1 (Ch 49, for now, it is sold to Ch. 58)

I get all the 55's.  Ion, ion_life, qubo and another PAX station.  I think 22.1 showed up as 30.1.  Don't get 49.1, but do get 58.2 which I assume is what you mean by sold to 58.  Is 49.1 channel 41 analog?

I get all the ones basshive listed.

Those are what I get a solid signal on.  Thanks for the feed back!

I had to remove 30.1 since it has a program called "heroes" that my new Dish 722 wanted to record as part of the NBC series Heroes I told it to record new episodes only on.  Nothing else on that channel I wanted anyhow.

22.1 is a digital number which is mapped as 30.1.
The same like 46.1 will map to 58.1
Channel 58.2 is actually WMLV ch 41.
Channel 49 is a shopping channel for now.
