Quote from: Blitzburgh;40390LOL.. How do you figure? DirecTV has been the leader since it launched in 1994.

Please....

Does Dish have Sunday Ticket? lol

You might want to check your subscriber base before you call Dish a leader.

Or did you mean leader of filler HD?

Never was interested in Sunday ticket. I have access to up to 9 live games in HD/week without Sunday ticket (1 NFL Network, 1 NBC, 1 ESPN, 1-2 CBS, 1-2 FOX Milwaukee and 1-2 Fox Chicago (one of those games almost always is different from Milwaukee FOX game).  So from all these games I watch Packers and if they won probably watch some other game that Sunday. It is more then enough for me. I 100% agree that for someone needed Sunday ticket, D* was, is and will be for at least the time this current contract expire, a leader. For me - no.
As far as subscriberrs count they are close, and Dish adds now more subscribers then D*. Those numbers are published and I saw them but I am not interested in those numbers. I am interested in HD channels I need. And E* has plenty, so I am happy for now.

All these networks can reach an HD carriage agreement with DirecTV except for our very own CBS 58.  How ridiculous.

You know how "important" CBS58 is!:huh?:
Directv must really not be trying very hard to get them added to its lineup for local HD stations with the CBS network.
I wonder what Directv does with other difficult local stations in other areas of the country and if these tactics have worked or not, there.

If Directv only knew how it is keeping (at least some of my HT hookups) from subscribing to them, since they don't want to put up anything more than their dish for local HD networks and all, Directv would try to do something to get it, trying harder or a find a way to convince CBS58 to allow it to finally happen.;)

Well, as much as I wish CBS58 was in HD via D*, I doubt that if you had even 100 customers say no to D* because of this that D* would even take notice/be concerned.  I could be wrong but I wonder how much they even think about CBS58, perhaps D* doesn't even take their calls if 58 tried to make contact.

I watch more network TV than anything else, so for me CBS 58 is a deal breaker.  When D* gets CBS local, then we'll make the switch.

Channel 58 is minor league in every way.

I don't care who has more subscribers.  It doesn't effect me in any way.  As long as you're happy with whatever service you have, that's all that matters.

I currently get CBS 58 HD through my OTA using the HR10.  When I upgrade to the HR20, will I still be able to use my OTA?

Yep that is how I get it right now.  HR20 + OTA = CH58-1, -2, -3, -4, -5.

Do you use your OTA for all locals?

Just got off the phone with D*TV regarding the upgrade.

New receiver, dish, etc will soon be mine.  She rep confirmed September for the first wave of new HD channels.

I'm getting charged $99 for the new receiver, but received an instant $50 credit and an additional $10 credit for 6 months.  I guess I'm coming out ahead $11 in this deal.

The install is scheduled for next week.  My wife is a huge TiVo lover so I hope she gets used to the new dvr.  Otherwise I won't hear the end of it.

I'll let you know how everything goes.

HDefinicktion

It took my wife about two weeks to get used to it.  I still have the TIVO hooked up in the basement and distributed around the house.  I have here record all of her non-HD shows on it.  It made her happy that if she could not figure it out, she could always use the TIVO....and it gave me more room on the DVR for my shows....

Anyone know if D* is offering upgrades from a H20 to an HR20?

vegasvic

I was a long time Tivo user too, I think the HR-20 is just as good if not better.
