OMG, that is a good selection HD channels !

I wonder what "Fall 2007" translates into, timeline-wise.
Fall means September 23 (official start of Autumn) to December 22nd (winter begins), so that means the balance of the channels will be there.

I wonder if TWC will even flicker in desperation.
My thoughts on them is that they will offer some lame excuse about quantity and quality (here, especially) and offer something close to what TWC San Antonio offers, now.

I had to call D* Friday to change some premium channels and while speaking to the CSR, he also mentioned that the Mountain West Network (think Big Ten Network) will also be starting soon. He didn't say if HD or not, I had not heard of this conference starting up a network so I googled it and sure enough, it starts broadcasting on 9/2/2007. I couldn't see a start date for D*'s carriage but would guess about then also.

He confirmed that he is also hearing a date of 9/9 for the "September" channels to commence and the Big Ten on Aug. 30th.

I went to the State Fair on Saturday evening, and D* had a booth in the exhibition hall. It was extememely busy because the Packers and Brewers were both playing. (You should have herd the shouts when Braun hit his home run in the 9th.) A rep showed me a talk piece, written for rep use only, describing the channels you listed. The September rollout is firm.

BTW, a few weeks ago I learned that my 4x8 multswitch would be incompatible with the new MPEG-4 channels so I swapped mine out with a new Zinwell WB616 6x16 multiswitch. I have room again! D* gave it to me for free because I am on their equipment protection plan. I also found out that a diplexer won't work for the new channels. The new HR20 box needs its own direct antenna feed for OTA channels. I ran those lines this weekend and now should be all set! Moral of the story, be sure you have a multiswitch compatible with MEG-4 and that your receivers are not diplexed.:OnAir:

Today I got a call from TWC sales person. Usually I do not pick it up, but had some spare time. So he started very excited about their phone service and asked how much I pay for my phone. I answered: $12.95/month. He was just shocked. So he moved on to TV and asked how much I pay for TV. I answered $130/month. So he was a little bit relieved to hear it and joked that it is probably a top package. Yes, I answered I have Everything pack with Dish Network. So he started like TWC can offer everything pack for less. I told him that TWC evrything is not enough for me. What do you mean, he wondered. I mean HD package. Oh, we have HD pack, he said. I know, you have, but it is maybe 14-15 channels. And I have 38 (don't really know, I know it is more then 30 with 7 more coming in two days). That was it. He said that they just can't match it now.

Some day, when every channel on every system is HD, we'll laugh about these times.  But for now TWC is waaaaay behind in HD.  Dish is better but the Voom channels are all pretty much a waste.  Dish is sending up another sat next year so they'll start to catch up to DTV.

They've starting test the new D-10 sat early, it's possible the new HD channels could roll out by Labor Day weekend.

Correct:)

And how do you know that? It is not a waste for me.;)

 Excuse me, it is D* which will probably catch up with Dish in Sep with HD. I have Dish HD for 6 years (with one year Voom deal, which is still unbeatable in HD amount yet) and Dish always was and still is on top. Maybe in Sep. D* will reclaim leadership, but I don't think that Dish will wait 5 years to respond. I think that even TWC will respond too, but we will see.

Food in HD and SciFi in HD!!!!! I've been always OTA only since I DVR everything and already have too much of a couch shaped posterior(looked for a word the forum would take :) )  But man oh man oh man I'm thinking it might be time.  Never heard of the Science Channel but sounds up my alley.  Several others add to the temptation: history, A&E; okay I'm going to stop looking at that list now.  This really is exciting to me.

No they won't take 5 years it will be next year.  It's funny that Charlie last week downplayed DTV's new HD lineup by saying most of the channels are channels he wouldn't watch and then said they are going to launch 2 new sats next year to... offer the same channels. :D

If you are a sports fan you definitely want DTV, otherwise Dish is fine.  Both blow TWC out of the water.

Should I sign up for Direct TV now or wait?

Well if you don't sign up now you will have to wait awhile. I would guess that new installs are going to get backed up real soon and equipment shortages will be likely as well when D10 is turned on.

Reports I'm hearing is that installs are starting to get backed up.  And there is a big rush on HR-20's.  It's only going to get worse as all of the new HD channels come online next month.

LOL.. How do you figure? DirecTV has been the leader since it launched in 1994.

Please....

Does Dish have Sunday Ticket? lol

You might want to check your subscriber base before you call Dish a leader.

Or did you mean leader of filler HD?
