I just got off the phone w/ a TWC sales rep.  Here's what he told me:

No contract
1 year rates

Residential $29.95/month
Premium/Turbo $39.99 / month 1 year promotion (otherwise $54.99/month)
After 1 year they will raise the premium price by $5/month.

The premium speeds are currently 7MB down and 512 up, but on the 14th this will be the new residential speed.

The new premium speed is supposed to be 15MB down and 1.5MB up.

New installs are over 1 week out (Sat 8/18).  If you aren't sure about trying it, schedule the appt, then move the install date out if you need time to decide.

I'm currently w/ TDS's dsl service.  Have 4MB down and 756 up for about $40/month.  I think that dsl is pretty well capped out speed wise, so I'll give it a shot.

I wonder why my business class isn't close to 15 like the others.  Could it be the modem?  It's a Motorola SB3100.. kinda old.

My speed is much improved

I got a SB5101 replacement... didn't go up to 15, but it did go from 6 to close to 7.5.  Lost my 2M upload though :D.  I guess the 7 vs. 15 deal must be different agreements for different companies.

Quote from: e-man;40292It is dependent on the number of private business class users at my work place.  The more that sign up, the lower the price.  I was at 40.95 for quite a while and noticed we dropped to 38.95 recently.

Road Runner Monthly Service Fee Schedule

Private Users 1 to 500 - Cost/Month $42.95
Private Users 501 to 999 - Cost/Month $40.95
Private Users 1000 to 1499 - Cost/Month $38.95
Private Users 1500 to 2499 - Cost/Month $36.95
Private Users 2500 to 3999 - Cost/Month $34.95
Private Users 4000+ - Cost/Month $32.95

Too bad I can't qualify as a business user. Even a single business user is cheaper than residential and faster too.:(  Unless the are other setup fees involved.

Usually the Teleworker plan is only available to businesses that have purchased other services from Time Warner, AFAIK. For instance, we have a large contract with them for cable TV, and we're using them as one of our internet providers.

So, yeah, they're not just giving a discount out of the goodness of their heart. :)

I wonder if upgrading the modem will increase speeds? I've had the same one for three years now and get 6828 down /470 up with the recent speed increase. I have residential service.

I doubted it , but you can always trade in for the latest model. I have not noticed any new modem that came out in the last 2 years that's worth trading in for.

I only got a marginal improvement here in Germantown....

I have a 2+ year old Terayon TJ715X modem. I wonder if a modem swap would change that?
