Quote from: kevbeck122;39920Question about Netwurx: Is there any place you can buy the equipment cheaper?  My aunt and uncle live in West Bend/Barton and that's their only option besides dialup.  They just don't want to drop between $300 and $400 for the equipment.

Ya it's very expensive, but... you don't have to buy the equipment.  You can lease the equipment I believe for an additional $5 per month.  Don't quote me on that.  A telephone call can answer all your questions more acurately than what is posted on their website.  I have looked into buying the equipment elsewhere.  Let me tell you, the $325 for the SM, 50 feet of cable and the mounting bracket is a darn good deal.  They are petty much selling it to you at their bulk wholesale cost.  They buy hundereds of these at a crack.  Retail for the SM alone is about $600 the last time I looked.  You can buy any length of the outdoor Cat-5 cable from them as well and it's cheaper per foot than any where else I have found online and I was looking at buying a 500 foot roll minimum, not that I needed that much.  Also what you need to look at if you plan to buy the equipment is plan on keeping their service for at least 3 to 5 years in order for your investment to be cost competitive with cable or dsl, or for that matter, leasing the equipment.  I have been with them for about 3 years now.

Although it is a bit pricey, if you can get cable and you watch cable tv, then thats not a bad option.  If you can get SBC/AT&T DSL, then as far as I'm concerned that is the best and most cost efecitve option.  Their services as far as what they have to offer are hands down better than any other provider I have had in the past.  I had SBC dialup for a year and was very satisfied with it, but needed more speed and DSL was and still is not available to me, so I went the wireless route.

Thanks for the link.  I dropped them a line to see if they had any tower locations closer to me than the ones that serve Netwurx and Nconnect.  It's a good chance they don't because it seems that all these outfits lease bandwidth from each other depending on who owns the equipment on the various towers and where those towers are located in our area.

Quote from: RCNUT;39748Hi Guy's
Just a heads up, the wireless system that is being offered in SE West Bend and Northern Jackson may be coming to an end due to We Energies getting a bug up there _____ and demanding that the equipment be pulled off there tower on Rusco rd.,  if this happens there will be hundreds of customer out in the cold with no high speed internet options ( cable or DSL not available and SAT stinks!!). For those of us that bought the equipment, well tough.  munch-munch!!:(

What is the source for this information?

tazman

Well I got an answer so to speak from that Techware wireless.  I guess if they feal they do not need to respond to a phone message inquirey or an email inquirey.  That must mean that I am not in their coverage area and that their customer service is no better or even worse than the rest of the providers.  Kinda disappointing.:(

I found this out from Bertram wireless from Random lake, they  bought out nconnect from Slinger. The tower on the SE side of West Bend is owned by WE Energies and leases space to Bertram. From what I've been told, Bertram had a number of meetings with We Energies. I have not heard what the out come of those meetings were.  Also I believe that there are a number of  wireless providers that are using that same tower. Only time will tell

tazman

Well apparently it's now gone.  I had just been on Netwurx's site and was looking at their tower location map.  I see that the Rusco Rd. tower is no longer listed.

I know some people using that tower and I think they are still online.  I'll have to check with them and see what's going on.

Hi Guy's
I am on the rusco tower and it is still up and working. Through the grapevine I received an email that WE Energies will let the wireless equipment stay there till Sept. 08. So I guess we are good till then.
Since there is no way that AT&T will even try DSL (I tried), I believe that mobile wireless may be my only option at this point, maybe other options will pop up by next year.
