I was referred to JB Custom Wiring & Installations by Flanners but they want $250-300 to install an outdoor antenna.  Does anyone have any recommendations for other installers that cost a little less?  I'd like to get this antenna up soon so that I can start enjoying the local HDTV signals.  Thanks in advance for your help.

If it is possible in your situation then just install an attic antenna yourself. It is free and works fine.

It's possible.  Would I need any special kind of indoor antenna or would regular rabbit ears work?

Larry Neuens of Kemmers (I believe) TV in Sussex. 262 246-6495.

Wouldn't rabbit ears be best suited for VHF?  I would guess that a UHF antenna would be better for you, guessing you are after the DTV signals.  I put my UHF antenna in the attic and it worked out fine.  Every location is different though.  I would probably buy a UHF antenna and try it in the attic first, then if that is not satisfactory have it mounted outdoors.

Good luck,

If you want a truly great insallation by all means go with J B he did mine and spent a great deal ot time making sure it was 100% If you can find the Radio Shack double bow tie uhf antenna it should take care of your OTA reception. It is an indoor antenna that far surpasses many outdoor ones

I am sorry. I meant not a rabbit antenna, but a yagi. Maybe I was thinking about whole rabbit family.

Yes call Larry Neuens.  He is one of the only installers that knows how to make things work.  I have never heard a bad thing about Larry.  I have had complaints from people who Flanners has recommended.  Some of them don't use the right equipment to hook read signal strength.

Stay away from indoor antennas if possible.  You loose about 2/3 the signal of a TV station with an indoor antenna.  Plus you may have problems with reflections from the roof causing problems with digital break-up.
