Does anyone know of a good empty station to tune the mp3 player to? I'm having a rough time finding one.

That's a hard one around here since it can really vary by what area you are in.
I have a Sirius reciever that I hook my external transmitter to since it does a much better job of overpowering external signals compared to the Sirius bulit-in.

You could also get an in-line modulator and never have to worry about it cuz it shuts down other signals.

Adding an audio input to your radio is a better option. If your car's radio has an connector for a CD changer or tape deck.

I have one in my Civic and never have to worry about interference.

I believe my roommate uses 88.3 or 88.5 in his car, but he has a pretty strong transmitter (an ipod dock that plugs into the cigarette lighter socket).

My Zune tuner is like that. Cool, I'll hafta try those tomarrow.

I wish my stero had an input like that, but its a crappy Accent thats a work car and I don't want to invest in a nicer head unit over the stock one. :(
