TWC comedy

So I cancelled TWC last week and returned all my equipment and everything, and while I was at it I asked the REP if I could just pay off my remaining balance while I was there...

So I paid off the remaining balance...

Then I asked the REP if she was certain that I would get no more bills from TWC ever again, and she said that I would get a 'final statement' or something like that, which would still show that I did not owe any more money...

So anyhow, I get that 'final statement', and it shows that I had a balance of $.01...

Thats right, one cent....   Not one-hundered dollars, not even one-dollar, but one cent...

So before running the bill through the shreadder, I thought to myself that TWC and their evil computers would probably tack on a $5.00 "administrative fee" if I did not pay this bill on time...  You see, computers aren't born with the "common sense" gene like the rest of us are (well, most of us, anyhow)..

If I were into conspiracy theories, I would say that TWC is doing this on purpose to folks who cancel their TWC service, in the hopes that people don't pay their bills for 1 penny and make $5.00 a month in collection charges until the fees are paid off...

.... I try not to believe in conspiracy theories ;)

.... But I DO beleive in comedy, and it is under that heading under which this TWC screw-up falls...

Anyhow, I actually called a TWC service REP today, and got them to waive the $.01 in charges...    Hopefully I won't have to hear from them again..

And as for the bill, instead of putting it through the shreadder, I will frame it and put in up on my wall, as a reminder and a warning should I ever want to switch back to TWC again...

... And if your switching from TWC to u-verse like I did, make sure you take care of all your outstanding balance, even if its one cent, or reamin forever in the system you will!!!

I would remember that, its just that I would probably keep my RR Bus Cls service for our family business along with the dual line dig phone to keep the clients from being confused...but thanks.:)

To me TWC HD service is more dramatic comedy (or worse), nothing funny about it except for the joy of getting rid of them for HDTV service (once the 2 HD channels at a time is available from U-Verse).

You should have mailed them a penny taped to your bill.

What is worse, the 1 cent that you owned TWC cost more to them with costs of the paper it was printed on, the cost of postage to send the bill and so on.

Given that "mindset", customers with amounts under a $1 shouldn't be billed at all, unless there will be another bill following the next month, like an underpaid billing, it isn't cost-efficient at all, IMO.:D

... And lets not forget the service REP at the call center, whose time I had to tie up for 5 minutes or so...  And how much TWC had to pay her for that time, and during which more people had to remain on hold longer, as I resolved my $.01 in charges...

Another option would have been to pay online using your credit card, where they would lose 3 or 4%, leaving them with even less....

I had a funny experience when I returned my equipment.  I got up to the desk and dropped off my equipment and told them that I would like to disconnect.  They asked why I wished to disconnect and I told them I switched to uverse.  The rep said "oh no you didnt!" and it was then that I discovered that the people on either side of me were also canceling because they switched to uverse.  The lady next to me then said, that she switched to uverse because TWC was just getting too expensive.  The sady behind the desk then told us that we could switche back after our contract ended.  I said "What contract!, uverse has no contracts".  She then said that at least with TWC there are no dishes.  Its obvious that she had no idea what their new competion was.  Soon after I was all settled up and I turned to leave the store and as I did I noticed that a line of about 4-5 people had formed and at least 3 of them had cable boxes in hand!  I do not know if they were all switching to uverse but I would guess that at least one or two of them were.

U-Verse is a cause and effect sort of thing with subs, especially since there is nothing to buy and no contracts to sign.

TWC raises prices, adds little or no HD channels (ESPN2HD makes it 15 full time ones again from early last year) and therefore no incentive to keep them.

Their kiosks and offices offer CSRs that are trained for specific functions, including delusional responses aimed at keeping subscribers from leaving TWC, including that story about the "whole bunch of HD channels" for February 1st (remember that one?)

Great that there were so many leaving TWC-maybe this is Bev's wake up call...yeah, right...she never ever did answer our emails about more HD channels, including those CW18HD/My24HD local HD channels from January, either!
