LCD flat panel cleaning

What do you guys recommend for cleaning LCD flat panel screens?  I've had mine for 9 months now and the screen has picked up some dust.  I'm hesitant to take glass cleaner and paper towels to it 'cause it's not made of glass.  Any ideas?

Go to Office Depot and get their own brand of Non-Streaking Screen Cleaner... resonably priced and good for safely cleaning just about any type of screen, including LCD's and laptops.

If someone has a much better recommendation please feel free, that's just what I've been using.

Microfiber cloth for PDPs and LCDs.  I don't use any cleaner either.  Dampen the cloth if necessary.  If you have spooge on your screen that isn't coming off with a damp cloth, you have other issues.

I wouldn't use paper towels as they are a wood product and you could scratch the display surface.  I also use a lens cloth or a soft cloth rag.

A good glass cleaning specific micro-fiber  towel, they have a much smaller "knapp" than regular micro-fiber. Can be found at auto parts stores.
For a cleaner, I highly suggest Stoners invisible glass also found at auto parts stores,sprayed on the micro-fiber towel. Nothing abrasive, nothing streaky (which I found to be the case with Sprayaway) and safe for all types of glass and plastic, etc. If it is safe for all types of auto-tint, it will be safe for a screen on a LCD, DLP, palsma, etc.

Whatever....I am very "type A" about my screen, but with three kids, the occansional 'NOT ME' ghost handprint does appear on my screen once in a while...a damp cloth will just leave watermarks on the screen which drives me even more nutz.

That would be a "wet" cloth.  I've never used any chemical cleaner on any TV or computer monitor and have never had a problem with "watermarks".  I'm only offering a safe method.  There are lawsuits out against some of the plasma and lcd "cleaners" out there.  Plasmas, e.g., have a chemical coating on the glass that can become damaged by the use of chemicals.  I'm guessing that if you read your TV's manual, it would tell you to use a damn cloth.  Both my Panny PDP manual and my Westy LCD manual recommend only a damp cloth.  While people may use cleaners safely, just keep in mind that any damage resulting from such cleaners will not be covered by a warranty nor will you likely be able to suit the cleaner for damages (though, like others, you may try).

If it's only dust, I would just use Swiffer. I clean with it once a week to keep the dust from building up.

If it's stain. I used what others have mentioned moisten micro fiber or lens cloth then wipe it again with another dry cloth to get rid of any streaks.. I stay away from any kind of chemical cleaner.

I used an eyeglass lens cleaning cloth dampened with tap water and it worked like a charm.  Dampened one half of it and used the other half for drying.  In addition to the dust there were a few fingerprints and products of people sneezing which this method totally removed.  Thanks to everyone here for the insight.

Without a doubt, go to //www.klearscreen.com .   They have a package -- I think it is $39.95, or so.  It has a spray bottle, a micro fiber cloth, a chamois-like cloth, and a bunch of pre-moistened wipes.  I have used it on a couple of Sharp LCDs and an LCD PC flatscreen with excellent results.  The spray can go onto the cloth -- just moisten it, or spray right onto the screen (but don't overspray and drip).

Part of the package is to use the micro fiber cloth, because the dust and dirt get hidden in the cloth and don't scratch the glass.  They recommend testing first (in a corner), in case there's a coating on the glass, but I think most LCD screens are clean.  Also, I think the liquid is anti-static which means more with a tube than an LCD, as the LCD is pretty neutral.

I'm 100% happy with Klear Screen.

Mist some water on there and wipe it with a paper towel. a very good calibrator told me that and I've never had a prob.
