Anyone else having problems with ABC 012-1

It's me again. First it was FOX 006-1, now it's ABC 012-1. It's constantly pixelating, freezing and losing signal. This has been happening constantly for the last several weeks. I get 100% signal strength and it drops to 0. It quickly reacquires signal of 100% and stays on for a minute or 2 and drops again.

Anyone else been experiencing this? I have DISH HD 822 or is it 812?.  I get locals over the air. I live in Franklin.

The only problem I have noticed is their lack of programming guide data in their OTA signal for the past couple of weeks.

Waukesha Dish 622 Pvr drops out too. I emailed WISN and said whatever they did is causing problems. WITI changed their exciter which caused thier problems a while ago. WISN must have changed something that causing this problem. Let them know

I have a Dish 622 DVR and a 211 HD reciever and have the same trouble with both of them getting 12-1. I have also tried it with the built in tuner in my Panasonic Plasma set and have the same problem with 12-1, so I have to assume that it is a problem at the station and not my equipment. I have also found that 36-1 gives me the same problem ( I don't know if anyone else has seen this).

I will be emailing WISN because now I know it's not just me. It's just strange that this crops up right after FOX6 fixes their problem. Oh well........ I'll let you know if WISN responds........

Or is it just a few of us DISH users?

I don't know your location but if Fox6 was on lower power and now is back on high power you might have some adjacent channel symbol interference.  Remember that WITI and WISN are on adjacent channels (33 and 34), and of course WMVT is on channel 35.

I emailed WISN about the problem but haven't received a reply from them. Not sure if I will either. I live in Sheboygan so I can rotate my antenna and get ABC from Green Bay with out a problem for the network shows. But that doesn't help when I want to watch a local WISN show such as the news.

We have been having the exact same problems with our Dish HD receiver and Channel 12 for the past 2 months or more.  Our screen started out freezing up and pixeling and then more recently would lose the signal completely and then come back after a few seconds to 100% strength.  We had an antenna repair man come out because we receive our local channels OTA.  He replaced a connection that was a bit wind torn and thought that was the issue.  That night we turned Channel 12 on and the same thing happened.  I contacted Dish Network and after fighting with them they sent me a new receiver.  We connected the new receiver and the same thing happened.  The man at Dish Network said there was a note in their system that there may be a software issue with the receiver and local channels.  There is no fix.  I don't imagine it would be high priority since they would want you to pay to get the local channels.  To test that it was the receiver and not our antenna the Dish Network guy suggested we plug the OTA cable right into the TV.  Sure enough----no more losing signal.  However now we can't get Channel 58 (could through our receiver), Channel 10 is combining audio programming and video programming from 2 different signals, and we don't know how to get Channel 4-2 or 10-1 through 6.  Are you able to get those stations somehow through your tv without going through the receiver?  I feel like I have researched this problem extensively and feel like you need to have a master's degree in TV to figure out where the problems really stem from.  It seems that some people in Madison are having similar Dish Network issues with their local channels as well.

I connected an attenuator that came with my Dish 211 receiver to the antenna cable. Since I have a Digital tuner in my TV too, I use a two way splitter to send the signal to my TV tuner and to the OTA tuner in my Dish receiver. I hooked the attenuator to the antenna cable before it was connected to the spliter so that it would help both tuners. Channel 12-1 now seems to be working OK on my Dish 211 receiver and my Digital tuner in my TV. I am not so sure that it was a problem with the Dish receiver because my TV tuner was also giving me the same problem before I used the Attenuator. My 622 DVR doesn't have one hocked to it and 12-1 still gives it problems. Now I just need to find out where I can buy a Attenuator to connect to it. If one came with your Dish receiver try using it and see if it makes a difference.

Is anyone with a Dish Network HD receiver having any luck getting WISN 12-1 with the OTA tuner?

I bought a 20db attenuator and put it on my antenna before going in to DISH box. It might be helping a tiny bit, but I still get the freezes and pixelating. Signal still at 100%, so I'm not sure if this thing is working or not.

Can I put additional attenuators on to further reduce the signal strength??

Any other ideas?

Yes. You could try another 6 to 10db.

I also have the Dish ViP 622, didn't have any problems until last week when there was a software update.  Now it locks up or looses the signal for a second and then comes back at 100%.  I do not have any problems with the Samsung receivers.  I called Dish and told them of the problem and that it started with the software update.

I was going through some old electronic equipment and found a couple of "DC" Blockers that came with some TERK diplexers that I had. I remembered reading something on Dish Networks site about using them if you had an amplified antenna. I connected one to each coax cable the went from my antenna to my Dish receiver and my built in HD tunner in my plasma tv. All channels now work properly including 12-1. I have been using them for over 2 weeks now and get perfect reception. If you have an amplified antenna it might be worth trying this method out.
