Clear Channel In Horicon

My Aunt who lives in Horicon decided recently to upgrade to "Digital Cable", and needed to get a STB, so I went up there to see what she got.

The best they could offer was Composite audio and video outs!  It says right on the front of the STB that it is Dolby Digital, but there is no digital output!  Not even an S-Video output!

I called her cable company, and it was worse than talking to someone from Direct TV, as she didn't even know what Component out and S-Video was.  She kept insisting that it was all digital, and that I must not know what I was talking about.

And have you heard their commercials on the radio talking about how you can't get local channels from satellite?  I don't know how they can stay in business when they are that incompetent!

This is a common problem. I get it with Time Warner when calling about Road Runner. About 1 min into the conversation I realize that I know more than the rep does. If that isn't maddening enough, the "customer service rep" doesn't realize this and responds by claiming I don't know what I'm talking about. Must be the training. Never let on you don't know what's going on and never, never look anything up. Just blame the customer and collect the money.

The sad part was that my Aunt had just bought a new 32" Toshiba TV with both S-Video, and their "Color Stream" inputs, and the Cable Guy that installed the STB didn't even use the composit plugs, but went with Coax.

She kept trying to tell me it was alright she thought the picture looked great, but I could tell she was disapointed that she couldn't use her set to it's potential.
