Looks like we can expect more of the same from CBS 58

This game was in HD on D* for awhile, before they had to switch to another game....

Then I had to switch to 58-1 to see the end of the game with the "amazing picture and sound" provided by our local CBS-58! :(

The game is 10x better in HD - the sound is incredible and of course the picture is perfect.

Just another example of how our local CBS-58 is ripping us off by giving us TERRIBLE SD television.

As I've said before, CBS intended these games to be shown in HD, as did God, because he helped us invent the equipment.

Why our local CBS-58 wants to stick it to us so we can't see the games the way they were designed to be presented is beyond me.

And it sounds like the majority of CBS's around the country ARE showing HD and not this multicasting crap.

Thanks for nothing CBS-58.

I've merged the three different threads about games on CBS not being in HD.

While I would prefer to watch the games in HD, I do like the multicast.  For fans of teams who aren't the "primary game" in HD, I'm happy to watch a different game in SD.  With that being said, I'm thinking to myself the whole time - I wish this was in HD.  At least we'll really only have to deal with this one more day (I think).

I think there will only be one game at a time from the Sweet 16 on and hopefully CBS 58 will broadcast them all in HD.

I think the frustrating part of the multicast, at least for me, is that it doesn't seem to mesh with the way CBS network is delivering the games. For a proper multicast presentation, they should be showing one game, and one game alone, at a time per channel. However, CBS network is switching back and forth between games frequently, obviously serving those in markets only getting one game. So even if I flip over to one of the subchannels intending to watch Podunk U vs. Ipswitch State - that may not be the game being carried over there... at least not all the time.

It's rather like watching with someone with a short attention span and a permanent hold on the remote control. "*flip* That was boring, let's watch this instead.... ok, bored now, let's watch this other one... *flip* oh, sorry, were you watching that? *flip*..."

So not only is it poor video quality, not in HD, it's not even games in their entirety. Altogether, a really lame presentation.

AND they didn't even bother to switch for the Wisconsin game...

They switch right away for a crappy Marquette team... but for a team that has been in the top 5 all season long, they make us miss 10% of the game to watch the end of a meaningless game to Wisconsin people (Tennessee and Virginia).

Do the people running the show at CBS have any sense?

No HD, No Wisconsin game (in the home market), and No HD of the Wisconsin game (which very well may not be the local affiliate's fault).

BUT THEY CERTAINLY COULD HAVE SWITCHED TO THE SD FEED OF THE WISCONSIN GAME AT THE START OF THE GAME!

You think they'd do that (not switch) for a Packer game that starts at 3:00?  Sorry, CBS-58, this Badger team is MUCH better and more important than any stupid Packer game.......

Ok, I gotta give CBS milwaukee credit this year.  Twice this year now they have ran bulletins accross the screen explaining the situation with the HD signal.  First was the marquette game explaining that they would go away from multi-cast to provide the game in HD.  (wasnt the best broadcast but whatever)  Then today again at the beginning of the Badger game.   They said they could not air it cause CBS headquarters or whatever it is was showing the something else in HD at the time, and that as soon as they provided the signal they would switch to HD.  Low and behold about 2 minutes later it switched.  Gotta give em credit, they are keeping us informed.

They should have switched away from the Tenn-Virginia HD before the Wisconsin game started - even if we had to see it in SD.

The local team always should take priority.  It always does with the Packers.

And the Badgers are a top 5 team - not some middle of the rung Big East team (although you can't tell by the way they are playing right now).

Showing it in SD would have been fine.  But we deserved to see the beginning of the game.

I watched the first part of the game in SD.  I just had to watch the end of the Tennessee game.  Which actually, ended up being pretty good, and in HD.  Plus Bruce Pearl was coaching.

I'm not sure if I'm following this thread correctly about the NCAA games not being broadcase in HD on Channel 58...until recently I got fine (1080i) HD broadcasts OTA on channel 58-1, with of course then fairly lousy SD reception on channel 58 per se.  But now 58-1 is not there anymore at all for me.  I had some warranty work done recently on the TV (Samsung HL-S6187 DLP), so I wonder if it's just me not getting 58-1 anymore, or is this the general problem that the present thread is addressing?

Not to beat a dead horse, but WTF...

They've been showing the same feed on 58-2 so far tonight and trivia on 58-3.  I would have loved to have seen the Tennessee - Ohio State game in HD last night, but again more trivia taking up valuable bandwidth.  What is the matter with them?!?!?  :bang:  I hope this is the last year of this multicast crap.
