Hello -

We are kicking around the idea of updating our 'media room' with some new devices.  We have this TV right now, but I'm wondering what a good price point would be to start the selling might be.

Here is a general overview of the Mitsu WS-55511:  http://www.sightsandsoundsva.com/products/televisions/ws55511.htm

There is one on eBay, listed for $1800:  http://product.ebay.com/Mitsubishi-WS-55511-55-in-Television_W0QQfromZR31QQfvcsZ1951QQsoprZ48203767QQugsoZ7QQupvrZ3

We dropped about $3400 for it about 4 years ago and it is in excellent condition, almost mint condition minus a little dust.

What do you all think?  Is $1800 a good price point?  Too high?  Too low?  Anyone want to buy mine?  :D

Thanks,
njm

I think that guy is smoking rocks if he's expects to get $1800 for a plain ol projection tv nowadays. That or he's just seeing if some idiot will bite. Don't set your expectations anywhere near that high.

Just My Opinion......Way too high for a 55" RPTV. I have had mine professionally calibrated, and although it is about 2 years older than yours (WS55807), I think I would have a hard time unloading it for more than $500-$600.

There are just way too many "sexy" thinner dispalys out there (DLP, LCD, etc) that boxy RPTV's are becoming scarce. Also the whole firewire thing just became a total non-issue since everything went HDMI

Maybe try $1000 and be willing to settle for less.......

ebay is a great place to find out the value of "most" items that you want to sell, but there are many times the people make attempts to prey on the weak.  Another great place to look for going prices is craigslist.  Most likely, you wont find your model, but you will be able to find something that is comparable.  Go to http://www.milwaukee.craigslist.org and look for RPTVs.  It is also a great place to sell it because you most likely wont have to move it...Good Luck on your sell...

Also, to give you an idea for pricing. I purchased my WS-48413 NEW almost 3 years ago.

I paid $1,900 at Flanners. Great Price then!

If you look at your ebay link, there's another one listed now with a buy it now price of $699.00.

Plus the $1,800 one is four years old!

I passed up a 48" Mitsubishi HDTV last week that ended up selling in the last minute for $250,  only had one bid. I think the size and technology has made these cheaply replaceable.
