So what are some of the better hd antennas that fit/snap onto my eliptical 3 lnb directv dish?  I want to pick up the free local HD channels.

I don't know if there really are any good ones that fit that description.  I had one of those - it worked decently for me because I pretty much had line-of-site to the towers, less than 10 miles away.  It was a Terk.  I've since replaced that with a ChannelMaster in my attic.  Reception is much more stable for me now.

Where are you located? any obstructions nearby?

Tom Snyder

Lotsa people feel that those terms are mutally exclusive... that you can't get a a "better" snap on antenna.

When I first got started in this stuff back in 1999, I got a Terk and it was totally useless. I was on top of a hill, and in a location where the antenna/dish was on the right side of the house to give me clear line of site to the towers just 17-20 miles away. I couldn't pick up a single station.

Besides Bluto above, I haven't heard a single person here say anything positive about any of these since.

I've had a Radio Shack indoor double bow tie antenna ever since, hidden among some greenery decorations in my living room, giving me great signal strength... and I'm 8 miles further North than I was back then, and have a huge woods between me and the towers.

Are these good antennas for indoors?

Terk tv5

or

RCA ant525

Again I am on the south side of Jackson, so just north of Germantown and south of Sherman Road in Jackson.

*L*  I wouldn't say I was saying positive things about the wrap-around.  I'd say more neutral, because it worked (most of the time) for me.

Danazc,
I defer to Tom on this.  He's up in your general area.  Maybe you should look for something similar to what Tom uses.

Tom Snyder

After the Terk wraparound, I had that RCA, and that didn't do it for me either. No experience with the Terk indoor antenna.

Unfortunately, the Radio Shack double bowtie was discontinued several years ago.  But they pop up every now and then for sale by private parties. Anyone know where one can be gotten these days?
