Looks like we can expect more of the same from CBS 58

Quote from: Mags;38495IT's weird - I can't get the 58 digital channels to come in through the HR10-250 D* box (even though they did all day and ALL the other digital channels are coming through).

BUt I can get it directly from the antenna.  I'm thinking that with the switches CBS-58 is doing to multicast and then do HD, it somehow confused the TIVO box???

Try it again.  58-1 just came back on my HR10-250.

Quote from: NDP1623;38498Awesome, its there now.

OUCH!  Maybe it should have stayed black.

NDP1623

Yeah, actually mine went black again right when they hit the three to go ahead by 12.  I had to hard reset my receiver.  It works fine now though.

It's been flipping back and forth between HD and DS - both OTA and through a D*TV HD receiver.

Uggg!

At one point they had an HD picture and audio from the studio, not the announcers.

Its very important to call and complain to them, they need to know how we feel.

TWC, cable card, digital access package.  I saw the Marquette game on 505 in HD.  Later, the Indiana game was on 505 in SD.  On channels 581-584, there was nothing but a Channel Not Available message, although the channel label said NCAA.  Do I really need to ask TW to unlock these channels?  Or am I doing something wrong?

The OTA broadcasts had MArquette in HD and 58-3, 58-4 & 58-5 with nothing until the Marquette game was over , then all four channels had different games in SD.

Yeah, the Marquette game was a total mess... it looked for a while like they kept picking up a satellite feed -- only to discover it was actually another game's feed that was showing the Marquette game during a break in the action. CBS network center would return to the normal game, then CBS58 would have to scramble and find another feed for the game... then the process repeated itself, until eventually they were down to what looked like SD footage, with CBS branding, but produced for CSTV.

It's a good thing the game was fairly one-sided, so by the time they were down to permanently SD footage, I gave up and flipped over to something else.

I guess if I wanted to watch crappy quality basketball, I'd watch it online. They need to stick with presenting the one primary game, in HD, and let everyone who wants to watch the other games watch them online.

With the poor  picture quality of 58 with the multi-cast the FCC should suspend the station license.  How this crap is serving the public good is beyond me.  I finally turned the antenna north and watched it on WFRV Green Bay.  No multi-cast in Packer town and excellent picture.  It makes one think that the same morons that handle HD programming for TWC must be giving advice to 58 on how to screw the public.

I couldn't care less about these games, but that kind of behavior sounds horribly unprofessional. This isn't even technical difficulties... this is not knowing how to handle your damn station. Ridiculous.

I recorded the Wisconsin game and watched it last night. What seemed to be happening was that CBS kept switching away from the game. CBS58 would then try to find, and air, a different feed that was showing the Wisconsin game. CBS would then switch that feed to a different game, etc etc.

I think we should be commending CBS58 for at least trying to show us the entire game. It it CBS Sports that deserves our wrath.

Exactly that is what happened. CBS (the network) switched the HD feed to another HD game that was in progress near the end of the Badger game. The local station then switched back to the SD version of the Badger game so we could continue to see it. It also looked like 58 was switching back & forth between the 2 SD versions of both games so we could see the ending of both.
What else you gonna do when the network takes the HD feed away?
Good job!
