MLB a DirecTV exclusive?

Per this Story on ESPN's website, though it isn't outrightly exclusive, it seems it may just end up being so.

This really sucks for people in my position.  Not that I would have gotten the Extra Innings Package, but the NFL one I would really like to get and have the option of the MLB package as my income increases as time goes on.  I rent, and I can't have a dish anywhere (I face NorthEast), thus the options are not even available to me.

It just doesn't seem...right.
