Has anyone had to get their RCA DTC-100 HDTV Receiver repaired? Mine won't power up, and when I took it back to Radio Shack (authorized RCA dealer), they said only RCA could repair it. Then I called RCA, and they said they won't repair it. Just offered me a $245 option to swap it with another used receiver. I find this so unacceptable for a device I just purchased 1.5 years ago!

Does it make a hissing noise when you try to power it up.  RCA has a problem with 2 power supply capacitors.  This is how I got my DTC 100.  I have the the part numbers at work.  How long have you owned the unit?

No hissing sound; no noise at all. Would RCA repair your unit? They won't even offer to repair mine.

Should be a simple repair the guy fixing my RCA said that both on the DTC100 and the integrated sets the same 2 capacitors on the switch-mode power supply go bad.  Heck if mine wasn't under a warranty contract I would have fixed it myself.  If you can't get any response from anyone email me direct and we'll give it a whirl.

Gregg,

My DTC 100 has died, too.  I'd like to try to repair it.  Can you send me the information you have?

Thanks.

Anyone want mine? I've upgraded to an HD DVR so I don't need it anymore.  First  $25 donation to Milwaukee HDTV takes it. :)

Mine is free to a good home!  It's in West Bend!

Around 2002 there was a flood of bad capacitors being used in motherboards and power supplies. I have two motherboards with bad caps, and I plan on replacing the caps on them.

I got most of my information on replacing caps from a website and their forum:
