I was referring to the "Patch" part in avsforums section,
called "More news about HD on Time Warner Cable ", post number 910.
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=9564670

Some had it all ready to do the HD part of the SBG station once the agreement was signed
(vs. our TWC location...big surprise).

Interesting how a station had a fiber connection to the cable plant when an agreement was never reached. Fiber isn't cheap, especially for something you're not using.
My guess is that the stations that went on right away were OTA.

Bran muffins on the other hand are cheap and have lots of fiber.

That post on AVS makes me laugh.

In my years of experience in IT, I've never seen something START transmitting when a patch cable is removed. I've sure seen a lot of stuff STOP transmitting the moment a cable is unplugged (heck, I've caused it more times than I'd like to admit).

While I'd readily admit that the technology involved in transmitting a TV signal is probably foreign to me, data transmission over a fiber optic cable is pretty much the same no matter what you're doing with it. If you disconnect one end of it, it stops working, it does not start working.

(Heh - what did they think this was, a ripcord from a parachute? :D)

KABB-DT, the HD FOX channel that is operated by Sinclair is up and running on San Antonio, TX-TWC channel 111 today.
Looks like the MyNtwkTV HD channel is either not HD yet or will be added sometime soon, but sources seem to indicate it will be very soon, as the local TWC is aware of it.

Not only did the local TWC management get this HD channel up and in the their system
- the TWC website was updated at the very same time, amazing.:D

Let's see Bev & Co. try to do that, anytime soon, here in TWC-Milwaukeeland.

Point is, you will notice that our very own TWC-Wisconsin has not added either of the HD local channels that were from Sinclair, like San Antonio has, not  even the one CW18 HD channel as of yet, in the same timeframe.
Other TWC locations throughout the country have added theirs, too, unlike TWC-Milwaukee.

You will notice, too, the other HD channel offerings TWC-Wisconsin does not offer yet that San Antonio, among other TWC locations in the country, have had for some time.

Quote from: markd;37130I was told by a rep at the new Southridge store last weekend that we were getting new HD channels for February 1.  I was there with my mother, picking up a new 8300HD and my mother asked if they had an HD channel lineup printout.  The woman said they were all out presently but that they were out of date anyway since they will be adding "a bunch" of new HD channels next month.

Hrmm

Hey, TWC-Milwaukee:

It's February 1st!

Guess what?

There are no HD channel additions...guess she was telling us stories!:bang:

Yeah, it's a good think I haven't been holding my breath this whole time ;)

Yes, holding your breath for more HD channel additions on TWC-Milwaukee is stupid, just like TWC-Milwaukee managers think we HD subs are.
Stupid, or at least, uncaring as they are...really, really sad.:(

I have done some research, reviewing the many locations of TWC around the country and find that most, if not all, Sinclair-TWC disputed HD channels have been added in the past two weeks in other cities, or at least one of the two, as in San Antonio, their other is MyNetwkTV, which is digital.
Notice that I note this city often as it is a sort of a benchmark to what is going on - it has the most HD channels outside of ESPN2HD (it doesn't have -yet).

Additionally, you will note that most locations have either or both CinemaxHD and StarzHD or MHD and A&EHD, or both, again, based on my research.

While some may reason that they particularily don't like any of some of these new HD channels, you have to agree that SOMETHING added, after losing INHD2 (as everyone else did), should have happened...
... BY NOW.

What is up with TWC-Milwaukee, anyway?

Why don't they care to add HD channels, while every other TWC location in the country has added HD locals (from SBG) along with some or all of the other HD channels aforementioned?

Doesn't "Bev & Co." LIKE HDTV?

Obviously NOT.

mhz40

I love HD too!  In fact; if it's not on HD, I generally don't even watch the program.
No one can speculate what the plan or hold-up might be locally.
I would suggest that any reasonable individual should be thinking that the issue is not being ignored on the local level, as the national announcement was addressed further by local representative Bev G.

mhz40:
Nice of you to speak up as it is not my intention to make you feel like you are in the spotlight...okay?

As for being the only TWC location in the country that has not had any additions to HD channels, (in fact, lost one), I find it, in a way, shameful.

Whatever the hold is, I call and call and no one knows anything.
I even threatened to dump my Starz channels because of no StarzHD.:D

What is the TWC-Milwaukee system...jammed up....lacking bandwidth?
We cannot have that little space vs. other areas like NY, TX or even New England TWCs..could we?

FYI, it has been way over a month since the Sinclair  Broadcasting agreements were signed and still, no CW18HD and/or MyNtwk24HD have been added.

One would assume, given the fact at the end of December, we lost INHD2, there could have been "some" bandwidth available for at least one of them.

Viacom signed a deal with TWC and in other locations, INHD2 was replaced with MHD
(see TWC websites other than our own, never-updated local).

Recently, I studied other TWC locations that  had SBG conflicts from before with HD locals and from what I can find, both HD network channel locals were added.

Example, Raleigh, NC TWC just added its MyNtwkHD to its lineup, right after adding CWHD, thus making a total of 7 HD network locals available there, as of yesterday and this what their total looks like now:
Standard/Premium HD channels:
201 UNC (PBS) HD
211 WTVD (ABC) HD
217 WNCN (NBC) HD
222 WLFL (CW) HD
228 WRDC (MyNetwork) HD
250 WRAZ (FOX) HD
255 WRAL (CBS) HD
280 Discovery HD Theater
281 TNT HD
285 HBO HD  East
286 Showtime HD  East
411 HBO HD  - could be replaced by Cinemax East HD soon
451 Showtime HD  - could be replaced by StarzHD soon

HD Suite (or HD Package) :
290 ESPN HD
291 INHD
292 MHD  - this was INHD2 previously.
293 HD Net
294 HDNet Movies
295 Universal HD

And of course,

299 HD Movies On  Demand

How do you like THEIR TWC HD channels?

Point is, something could have been added-anything would have been "good" for now,
but their reasoning escapes me and others.
Some of us that have started a letter-writing campaign to TWC managers,
urging an explanation and - solution.
