Quote from: Mark Strube;38134It's not available in our area yet, but here's the gripe my family will have... you need a box for any tv that's going to get any service at all! We have 7 televisions hooked up in this house, right now only 3 of those actually have digital boxes on them, the rest are just plugged into standard analog cable. I'm sure getting just as many sets hooked up with U-verse could cost a pretty penny. I'm all for switching to a better provider, I'm starving for more HD... but that's an aspect where AT&T will really need to find a good way to compete.

If you're in the situation you want to hook it up to 5 or more TV's, cable is the only alternative I think...

Edit:  Actually you can add an additional STB for $5/month.  Also, all U-Verse STB's are HD capable.

Heck, you recently dumped TWC for Dishnetwork - now you're "back again" with TWC:

What did you DO with those analogue-only TV sets with Dishnetwork-only, before?
(Did you not use them or keep TWC "on-the-side"?)

Isn't competition great? The more the better!

We kept TWC's analog service "on the side." Not my choice, the family refused to be restricted to 4 TV's for some reason.

I heartily agree!! I wish we had competition in a lot of other areas the gov't won't allow... competition always benefits the consumer and the advancement of ingenuity.

Quote from: kevbeck122;38114Actually from what I've heard and what they claim is that channel changes are instant.. faster than cable.

Almost instant. It just like going from one web page to another with a very fast connection. It's definitely faster than either cable or satellite.

Faster
Cheaper
Better picture quality on SD channels
cheaper

If all of these things are true and I can get the bundled package (internet, phone and channels) for a cheaper price than I'm paying for TWC, I don't see how I can
stay with cable.
Granted, I'm generally not an early adopter but, if it launches in my area and people
aren't having issues........after about 6 months of proven reliability, I'd jump.
