Madison WPT has just launched "Multicasting Supreme" with different day &

Nighttime scenarios. Both options offer essentially no degrading Digital signal

compression.    However at this point in time, both day & night OTA operations

give new problems to the GBay viewer. I'm hoping Probs all can be corrected.

The daytime WPT OTA offers four (4) Digital Std Def Programs, numbered as

-1, -2, -3, & -4 subchannels. At this time all 4 GBay digital subs have Audio

Probs. There are no PBS-HD OTA nor PBS-HD Cable offering in daytime. Yet?

Nighttime, beginning at 7 PM: has both a STD DEF sub-1, and a HD DEF sub -5

on the OTA signal.  Both of these have GBay OTA digital audio probs too.

For evening (TWC in GBay), carries Std Def sub -1 & Std def sub-2

where sub-2 if Off the Air (No Program).   There is no PBS-HD TWC Cable

at night. These 2 night Std Def sub channels on Cable have no Audio Probs.

I'm asking TWC to 'capture' WPT subchannels -1 & -5 at night, where -5

PBS-HD looks wonderful uncompressed.  It's been fuzzy ever since CREATE!

These digital 'casting' changes are 2 to 3 days old and are growing/learning

pains. Looks like I've lost PBS-HD for daytime (half bad for us retired),

but I've yet to properly hear PBS-HD nighttime in full Dolby anything for

2 days. MKE viewers have a different PBS/PBS-HD set up; how much of Wisc.

is noting the GBay headaches on WPT digital TV is unknow for now.

I can only wish Madison WPT both pending luck and soft proding.....

Friday evening the Audio problem on all 5 WPT subchannels was corrected.

2 hours of WPT downtime on both OTA & TWC channels was needed

to make the audio "sound crisp" for GBay OTA viewers.

TWC has yet to pick up the evening part time PBS-HD -5 subchannel.

Losing PBS-HD in GBay full time I'm sure was not part of the Madison

WPT plan!!  More work remains to be done by the Madison WPT Group.

Let me see, if my brain serves me right...WPT multi-casting would be on the following channels....

Madison WHA-DT chs.   21-1, 21-2, 21-3, and 21-4
Green Bay  WPNE-DT, chs.  38-1, 38-2, 38-3, and 38-4
Wausau  WHRM-DT, chs.  20-1, 20-2, 20-3, and 20-4
Menomonie/Eau Claire  WHWC-DT, chs. 28-1, 28-2, 28-3, and 28-4
La Crosse  WHLA-DT, chs.  31-1, 31-2, 31-3, and 31-4
Park Falls  (can't recall CL), chs.  36-1, 36-2, 36-3, and 36-4

Some of these channels may have Low Power Digital TV translators.

You are 66% correct........     for Wisc Public TV from Madison.

You left out the part time PBS-HD OTA on the -5 sub channel
(6 hours per day in the evening)

and a full time pure data transmission channel.

TWC in GBay still does not carry PBS-HD any more.....

and WPT has lost Dolby Digital 5.1 audio since the switch-a-roo!!

WPT Digital TV Madison had installed five (5) Sub-channels for most of WI

about 7 weeks ago. In the last two weeks, TWC GBay now 'casts'

all 5 sub-channels.  Subs 2(SD) & 5(HD) continue to show as

the 2 existing TWC 700 series channels. Sub(5) PBS-HD only runs from

7PM until 1 PM or a little longer. Three new (SD) sub channels, 1, 3,

and 4 run in the TWC high 700 series as new TWC offerings.

The only thing now lost in the multicasting Madison WPT decision

is Dolby Digital 5.1 on Sub (5) PBS-HD & a PBS-HD fulltime signal.

Dolby Digital 5.1 audio should reappear with a new encoder purchase.

With this WPT move, either 1 HD & 1 SD is offered at night OR

4 (SD) digital programs in daytime with minimal compression effects.

No offense intended, Den, but it is

really hard to read your posts when

you manually carriage return every

line and add unnecessary double

spacing between each one. Just let

the message board software handle

the word wrapping and carriage

return for you (except at the end of a

paragraph, of course.)
