TWC's HD channel lineup is pathetic.  To think that they are actually claiming they have 18 HD channels.  Pathetic.  Get your act together TWC Milwaukee.

In Great Britain we have a government agency called the Advertising Standards Authority.  Their charter is to ensure that advertisers tell the truth in their advertising and to prosecute those who do not.

I am guessing from all the blatant lies told in adverts over in the states that there is no similar agency to keep advertising agencies from pulling their ever fanciful ads?

Right on, I was attempting to think up a reason why they would do such a thing other than the obvious deception by touting 18 HD channels:

1)The Sinclair agreement wasn't done at the time of ad copy, I would imagine, so that didn't mean the 518 and 524 HD channels in the lineup.

2) A&EHD and MHD are almost everywhere, so that would mean 14 + 2 for 16.

3) CinemaxHD and StarzHD are almost everywhere, too, so that would add 2 more to equal 18 HD full-time channels.

But that would make sense to us, but would it to TWC-Milwaukee managers?

Adding the 518 and 524 HD local HD channels would mean 20 HD channels, something many TWC locations already have, except Milwaukee.

If you look at TWC-Milwaukee's current website, they have Universal HD in the standard offering, not part of the HD package (in the  drop downs) and they completely forgot to add the HBOHD channel 508 and ShowtimeHD channel 509, completely...what is that all about?

The FTC would be the governmental oversight agency for false advertising:  http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/bcpap.htm
The other routes are for a competitor to file a lawsuit blocking the ads and/or seeking damages, or for a consumer to sue based on not getting what was advertised.

Ironically, Time Warner has just successfully gotten some DirecTV ads pulled, based on the false claims in the DirecTV ads.

Seems obvious to me that the local TWC-Milwaukee management thinks that they are above everything, including the telling the truth from their false and misleading advertising to even their own employees distortions on the phone, emails and at sales kiosks throughout Milwaukeeland....sad.:(

Not one that actually cares about enforcement, no.

Infact, companies have claimed that they have a First Amendment right to lie.  Go figure.  (Kasky v. Nike).  Luckily the California State Supreme Court struck this down.

But who is to check up on the "liars"? Another slow, beaurocratic, government agency (waste of money), which is staffed by just as untrustworthy of people? There's a fine line between advertisement regulation and quelling freedom of speech, and I don't trust anyone's government to make that distinction.

I think the best solution, in this case anyway, is to make sure people on this forum are well-informed about the truth. People who get the service aren't stuck into any contracts, so as soon as they realize the "truth," they can choose whether to keep it or not.

Thats really odd, because I went to the same kiosk over the weekend, and they had no info about any new stations, not even one to replace INHD2. I ask him, "why am I still paying the same thing with last channels" and he didn't have a answer.  Told him he was big help and walked away. TWC is just  a big fat joke, and I'm dumber to stay with them. As soon as I can, I'm so getting rid of TWC.

Quote from: Nakedj1;37531I was shopping today at the Regency Mall in Racine and happened upon the TWC kiosk. I went up to the counter and asked the gentleman "When are you guys gonna add some new HD channels?"

His reply shocked me: "Well according to my information we are going to be adding 5-7 channels in the future"

He didn't have a specific date or timeline which makes me think I was gettin a public jerk in the mall. He did say that some of the channels were what we have been seen added in other TWC markets like: ESPN2, NGHD, FOODHD, MTVHD, A&EHD, and more fulltime FSNHD.

So we'll see what becomes of this....Glug2

Yes, a few years ago our TWC cable bills were much lower, too, but we digress...

In the same situation as we have in TWC-Milwaukeeland:
Sinclair owned WLFL CW 22 HD launched today for TWC Raleigh (channel 222).

I mention this because it IS possible to have this actually happen when your provider is TWC, just not here, it would seem.

We are still waiting weeks after the agreement for our Sinclair CWHD channel to be added!:(
