so our little tv in the kitchen died the other day. I was then thinking of getting a external tuner to hook up the cable to that and then use my unused 19'' lcd as a tv. I didn't want to wait to order one of those little boxes so I went to wal mart tonight and got an hdmi to dvi adaptor for 5 bucks and hooked up the lcd to the pace box DC551pf that I had downstairs. I can get the picture to work but can't get sound. I have some logitech pc speakers that are rca connections. I hooked one each to the left output and right output on the box. The sound is so quiet I have to hold the speaker right to my ear to hear it. I checked through all the menu options on the box, audio output etc, but can't find anything to make the sound go up. I clicked the volume on the box and it shows on the lcd that the volume is cranked all the way up. So anyone else try this? maybe i'll just have to cave and buy the external tv tuner thing. They were running around $50 bucks online.

Maybe since it thinks it is sending out the audio with the HDMI signal, it sends out weak audio through the RCA jacks?  Can you hook up the LCD with VGA or S-Video as a test?

Are you connecting the speakers DIRECTLY to the box via their RCA connection?  If so, I don't think that will work because the Pace box would be sending a line-level signal out of those, not an amplified signal.  I have had a few logitech speakers, and all the ones I've seen either plug into the wall for power, or plug into their mated subwoofer to get their power.  Without knowing the speakers, I could be barking up the wrong tree, but at least wanted to ask.

If I am going in the correct direction here, you'd need something to amplify the signal between the Pace box and the speakers.

I hooked up the sub woofer and center channel so the left and right had power and then it worked. So I have four speakers and a mess of wires to get sound and tv in the kitchen for now.
