Survivor finally in HD?

Been watching the Pre-Super Bowl hoopla and noticed the promos for Survivor are all HD. While the Amazing Race promos have certain portions in HD, all the "in the field" shots are SD, everything in the Survivor promos is HD... even the live action shots from the islands.

So I checked TitanTV, and it lists Survivor as in HD...

However, scrolling ahead in my on-air program guide, D* DOESN'T list it in HD.

And while the CBS program guide DOES list it in HD, AVS Forums is reporting that an infallible source at CBS says Nope.. and so they even closed the thread.

I guess we'll find out on Thursday night.

While I would love to see Survivor in HD, or even widescreen SD, I think we'll be seeing it like we have for all the past seasons - 480i, 4x3.

I didn't even think the commercials for it looked like it was shot in HD.  Just cropped SD.

Sorry to say, but is has been widely reported over at AVS, that the show will be in 4:3 SD this season.  Apparently the ads during the superbowl are 4:3 material up converted and then cropped to fit the 16:9 frame used for all CBS ads.

There are also other threads that originally stated that this season was filmed in HD but was going to be shown in SD.  I never understood the logic of this one, but I think this rumor has since been debunked.

While Survivor is one of the only prime time shows I watch not in HD, I ask you this: Do you really want to watch Survivor in HD?  While the scenery would be spectacular, think about what these people look like as the show progresses.  

Bug bites, scabs, hair in places it's usually shaved, and plenty of dirty people are not sights I want to see in HD!

Hey! I want to see bug bites, festering sores, dirt and grime.  I want these people to suffer and I want it to look like it!

Sometimes it looks just too easy for these people..(in SD)

Plus the 58 SD channel I record though DTV looks terrible so HD would be a huge improvement.  Trouble is I already record two HD channels at that time any I can't record any more so it is probably best that it stays in SD for this year.. {fart}
