Todays paper features an ad from TWC claiming they have 18 HD channels!!! If you include every HD channel they offer there is only 15!!  And 2 are only part time channels! What are they trying to pull?

Tom Snyder

The list on their site shows these:

500   Movies on Demand HD
502   HD PPV Events
504   WTMJ HD
505   WDJT HD
506   WITI HD
507   WMLW
510   WMVS-DT
512   WISN HD
530   ESPN HD
531   Fox Sports HD
532   Universal HD
533   TNT HD
541   Discovery HD Theater
545   INHD HDTV
547     HD Net
548   HD Net (movies?)

Not on the list are HBO and Showtime HD, which would bring this total to 18.

507? You try tuning to that. Even if you could, WMLW doesn't broadcast in HD, and likely never will.

I also think including 502 and 531 is a stretch, seeing as they carry next to no programming at all.

TWC-Milwaukee is attempting to coverup their inadequate number of HD channel offerings vs. what other locations throughout the country have enjoyed for some time, now.

We are STILL missing CinemaxHD, StarzHD, A&EHD and MHD as most every other location has 2 or all of these and for some time.

Advertising LIES about what TWC-Milwaukee has vs. the actual FOURTEEN HD full-time monthly subsciption channels is misleading and a flat-out disception.

Shame on you, TWC-Milwaukee!

Oh boy they'll up it by 2 when they add 18-1 and 24-1....whooo hooo.....

Gregg, I think they actually "owe" us 6 more HD channels, if you include the two you mentioned as these are local HD channels, not national ones like I mentioned.

So they could HONESTLY tout "20 HD Channels", like TWC does in many other TWC areas throughout the country.:D

We know that higher-ups at Time Warner monitor our forums to make sure that no "errors" get posted.

Well, here's their opportunity to explain their math.

Hello?????

Here's your chance!

Guys????

Ahhh....they're waiting for their calculator batteries to re-charge.

Maybe tomorrow?

Don't trust their ads.....nonsense...they are now advertising the Caller ID feature...with no disclaimers......I've only got it on one box...the DVR still doesn't have it.

Also hate the new software.....at least in the old software when in the guide you could pick a channel number in the range you wanted to look, even if it didn't exist, and it would send you to the next available higher....in the new software, it just puts you back at the existing channel.  How stupid!

Double Ditto on that one!  :(

I assume you're referring to the new Navigator software? I also greatly dislike it. Another issue is when you hit the FAV button while in the guide, it exits you out of the guide and takes you directly to the next favorite channel. Ridiculous... I sent them an email about this a few months ago.

This is the type of crap government-allowed monopolies bring us. The only thing keeping cable in check at all is competition from the satellite companies, and hopefully soon FIOS.

Well...it has been a couple of days and certainly "tomorrow" has come and gone.

Either TWC just didn't check with its advertising copywriters before they sent that ad out for the newspaper - or had decided lies and deceptions were in order about the channels.

Honestly, I really don't think they would advertise about anything about to come as that is not their usual "ploy" and one just finds the HD channel(s) on the screen grid and that's it...no notice.

I don't think they care what we think, even though, if this keeps up (no HD channels to match what other TWC locations are getting), I will be pushing my clients and referrals elsewhere...for HD delivery.

FYI:
Portland, Maine, with a metro population a smaller fraction of what we have here in Milwaukee
has 20 full-time subscription HD channels!
This total is not even including those HD PPV and almost-never-on special event HD channels that our local TWC tries to add to its totals (and still adds them up wrong).

Does  TWC-Milwaukee management think Milwaukeeans are so stupid and ignorant not to notice this?

With the competition in the Milwaukee market what is really pushing TWC to prioritize the addition of HD channels? IMO once AT&T actually offers to a WIDE area of Milwaukee and not just the neighborhoods they feel are financially worthy of service we will see the ball rolling.

I was shopping today at the Regency Mall in Racine and happened upon the TWC kiosk. I went up to the counter and asked the gentleman "When are you guys gonna add some new HD channels?"

His reply shocked me: "Well according to my information we are going to be adding 5-7 channels in the future"

He didn't have a specific date or timeline which makes me think I was gettin a public jerk in the mall. He did say that some of the channels were what we have been seen added in other TWC markets like: ESPN2, NGHD, FOODHD, MTVHD, A&EHD, and more fulltime FSNHD.

So we'll see what becomes of this....Glug2

I've seen countless posts saying "someone" with Time Warner said such-and-such. What I'd suggest people start doing is getting a name - at the very least a first name, but first name and last initial would be better - and once you've got their name, ask them if they'd like to go on record with that.

Then - report back here, or better yet, email Time Warner saying "I was at your Southridge store on 2/4 @ 12:30 p.m., and John D., one of your employees, said that new HD channels would be added within the month. I'd like to get confirmation on this, please."

If it's true - great. If not, hopefully this gets back to the employee and they get thwapped for lying to current and potential customers.

Agreed, IF and WHEN - I ask anyone at TWC-Milwaukee about anything,
including HD channel additions I will ask the following in two steps:
1) HD channel additions-how many are actually coming?
2) What ACTUAL HD channels will be offered?
3) Timeframe?
(This is February 2007 and we are still  begging for a replacement of INHD2 from January 1st!)

These TWC employees will be asked the following:
A) First name and last initial
B) Title of THEIR job
C) WHO they report to (so I can followup on their "fantasy").

Calling these TWC employees on their so-called information should be foremost in all our minds when this happens from now on!

..Good idea.
