Call TWC to ask about trading in my 8300 for an 8300HD and they said that there's a national shortage currently.  They expect delivery sometime in the next 30 days.

Anyone got any ideas other than OTA?  I'll be recording my shows in SD for the next month otherwise.

BTW, I'm taking delivery of my 42LX196 this Saturday.

I'm sure this time of year is the busiest for installing HD equipment (something about the super bowl?).

It's a real bummer you can't get an HD DVR for a month or so.

That being said, I had no problems getting an SA 8300 HD from TW last week when I signed up as a new cable customer (from Dish).

The TW Kiosk in Regency Mall (Racine) had some of them a few weeks ago.  I Helped 2 members of my family upgrade their DVR's to the 8300HD and there was no problem.  You should check them out.

Did you check the new Southridge store?  I just got one there on Saturday.

Might be a good time to check out Directv.....I hear they have HD boxes in stock.....:p :D

Don't be so sure... I called D* last week to upgrade to the HR250 and the 5LNB dish, and they said they couldn't even schedule my appointment because they were out of boxes as far ahead as they could see. They said Premier would call me and set it up when they knew when they'd get more in...

...still haven't been called.

People are getting set for the superbowl in HD and with all the HDTV's purchased this Christmas season alot of people needed HD boxes, Im sure if you stop at one of the shops in southridge or mayfair they could get you one. From what I heard they are running low on the REGULAR HD boxes and not the HD DVRs.

Turned out to be about a week and a half wait.  Got a call from them, and I went to go pick it up.

The bottom of the unit shows a 1/2/07 manufacturing date, so I guess that's cool.;)
