TWC 8300HD DVR's freezing A LOT lately

Getting the occasional gray screens and lockups during playback of recorded shows.
Very annoying lockups, fast forward is also affected. It appears that you have to get passed around 6-8 mins. of a recorded show to get it to work properly.

When new boxes are in stock, you should exchange.  Although I haven't had my boxes very long, I have two 8300HD DVR boxes that both record something every day (giving us flexability as to where things get watched) and I have no problems.  I used to have some lock ups with my old SD DVR box but I assumed it was a heat issue due to at least one cat being perched on top of it for several hours a day.  My parents had the same problem (and also have cats).  Since getting new boxes and moving them so they are no longer cat accessible, things have been fine.  Do you think you may be having heat related issues?

I don't believe mine is heat related because it's in the same place as my 2 previous 8300's.

The freezing and lock ups are happening on most DVR recordings and since so many people are having the same issue I have to believe that it's some sort of firmware glitch.

Are others hear still seeing these glitches?????

I hope ATT comes to Muskego soon.

This happened once today, but I hadn't seen the problem at all for a good month before that.

It's freezing up like crazy again today, when I try to watch a recorded program, whether it's HD or not. It's now had to freeze up & reboot itself 3 times within 2 hours. Nice.

Anyone know if there's been a software "update" lately?

Passport was updated  about a week ago to v2.6.002. This was a patch for the upcoming DST time change this weekend. Whether there were any other changes involved; I haven't  noticed anything.
On the bright side the immediate pressure to update our DVR's to "Navigator" has now gone away.

No offence, but your words sound like YOU are a TWC employee.

If Navigator working with DVRs is currently off-limits, there is a reason since the Nebraska TWC situation:

As for getting a method for obtaining more HD channels, I welcome SDV, but how is THAT coming along?:D

Is this the reason that current APTIV Digital/Passport software is giving us these problems, maybe by testing it on an overlay basis with our DVRs?

Couple that with everything else, not finding anymore HD channels added to the guide from our HD DVRs, is getting frustrating, too.:bang:

To the contrary, I'm not a TWC employee.
I was just expressing relief we aren't getting Navigator forced on us with all those problems it's having down Nebraska way. Unfortunately Passport won't support all these other features, but I"d prefer waiting till Navigator is at least out of alpha before we get it.

Quote from: Mark Strube;37012Has there been a software update within the past few weeks? Both of my HD-DVR's (one has the 300gb external drive on it) have been freezing up like crazy. When you hit play, it just shows the gray screen... then when you try to change to a live channel or a different recording on the list - the box completely freezes, becoming non-responsive... eventually rebooting itself within a few minutes. It always happens when I try to play a recorded show... and most (if not all) of the time it's with an HD recording. I was just talking to a friend tonight who lives in New Berlin... he was about to return his DVR because it's been doing the EXACT SAME THING lately, happening to him exactly how I've described it - when he's trying to play a recording.

Not to mention the late-night outages of HDNet and HDNet Movies haven't been corrected yet... boy I wish I still had Dish.

Same issue here, it has started up again in March
