Quote from: smack;36754They lost last year not because they rested their starters, rather they were beat by a better team in the Panthers because they didn't have an answer for Steve Smith.  This year if/when they lose it will most likely be for the simple fact their offense is pathetic.  If they can even get an average performance out of Grossman and the offense they should be the team to beat in the NFC, although Philly is coming together right now too.  That is why the NFL is so much fun.  Personally I hope the Bears lose in their first game as I am surrounded at my Waukesha home on three sides by Illinois/Bear transplants.  I don't think I can handle a successful Bears playoff run much less a Superbowl appearance, or God forbid victory.:bang: :bang: :bang:
Oh well, I hope the game means something to the packers come sunday night, but I'll be watching either way.

Their offense ihas improved greatly in the past 3 weeks, back to the level of the beginning of the year.  They had some pathetic weeks in the middle, led by a quarterback who had a bad, bad stretch.  But , they are playing pretty good right now.  Defense will be better by the playoffs with both corners healthy.  Philly is a team that should concern them.  If Philly wins Sunday though, they can't see then until the NFC Championship game.  I'm letting my 20 yr old and his buddy head to Soldier Field Sunday, but I'll be there for the 2 playoff games and, with 1 stroke of luck (for tickets, not the team), in Miami for the Super Bowl.

BTW, AS much as I do hope Sunday's game means something for the Packers, I kind of doubt that it will.

If there's any justice, all the planets will align for the Packers to get that Wild card slot...and all they'll need to do is beat the Bears.

Over the decades, there have been so many times where a deserving Packer team was on the bubble for a playoff berth because of a few bad plays or bad ref calls, and they needed help in the form of a scenario in those last few weeks that, even if they lost their last game, they could still get in. But you'd need to know trigonometry to understand how. So they weren't in control of their own destiny at all.

The Packers losses against the good teams this year demonstrate that they don't deserve to be in the playoffs. A win against the Bears would be the only thing that might indicate otherwise. Even then, they'd only be there because most of the rest of the NFC is just dismal this year.

But they'd at least have some justification because they were able to win the one game they needed to.
