I heard crackling during the Pro Bowl.  This was OTA and with my built in TV speakers.  I ended up not watching as it was too annoying.

It's a national issue with CBS

CW as well since CBS supplies their network feed.

I had that too, and wonder if it is something in the transmission system running out of headroom?  When an announcer gets excited in a game, there seems to be a breakup in the audio.  High audio excursions can have significant peaks, and if there is a lack of headroom, or capability for the stage involved to pass all the audio,  the audio will distort, and crackle.

Problems like that occur when the system audio levels are not equal.  A high input at one point  that was turned down somewhere else to compensate can cause a loss of headroom.  Digital encoders respond with crackling, not just temporary distortion.

I have commented that the Ch. 58 HD audio levels are changing from source to source.  This lets me suspect there are system audio levels that need attention.  Could this be part of the problem?

I didn't notice any crackling noises during 60 Minutes or the Grammy's last night.  I was also surprised to see the programming guide alive again.  To top it off they even adjusted their time of day with the guide data.

Keep up the good work!

HI Guys,
I have somewhat of the same problem on *D*, but what I hear is an echo or almost like someone is stuttering. I have heard this on not only 58.1 but also the CBS east coat feed and once an awhile on 6.1. However not so much on true OTA (TV) and not using my 10-250, which by the way D really goofed up on there last software upgrade back in October, but that for a different post. I am starting to wonder if it is the compression that D uses???
Thanks:bang:
