While I should know this, I don't.  Can I get HDNet with a single LNB and one run of cable, or do I need 2?

I've started trying to trudge through the zillions of threads elsewhere, and I see dual and triples being discussed, but I really don't want to make another cable run from my dish to my receiver if I can avoid it.

Thanks!

What you need is an oval dish with a multi-swith on the back.  That way you hook up your extra lnbs' to it, and you still have only one line to your TV.

It also gives you the option to add more TV later by running extra lines from the switch to a new reciever.

The reason for the oval dish is that it allows you to have up to 3 LNB's, each one is actually aligned to a different satellite.  To get HBO-HD and HD-NET you need 2 LNBs (one for regular Directv, one for the HD's), to get ShowHD you need to add the 3rd.  The Terks oval dish I have with 3 LNBs is nice. The multiswitch is built into the arm so there is nothing hanging on the back and the multiswitch has 4 coaxial outputs so you can have 4 boxes on the system  So I have 2 spare outputs right now as I only have 2 boxes, the old standard box and the HighDef box.

Thanks.  What's confused me is this SAT 101 and SAT 119 stuff.  I was poking around the AVS forum and couldn't understand that.  One thread even mentioned what you did Gregg, most of the normal stuff is on 101, 119 is HDNet (all I care about for the moment- no HBO ideas at all).

I've only got 4 lines of RG6 into my theater (didn't think I'd run out when I built it this way) and I'm using 3 with inbound signals, and I use the fourth to distribute to all other rooms.

So I could put up the oval dish (as part of a receiver upgrade as well), even install 3 heads and use a multiplexer to send that down 1 line to my satelite receiver (no other splits).

Excellent!  Thanks!
