Quote from: Blitzburgh;35475How long is it going to be before we can start seeing our local news in HD?

Which I get on "D", has it........Very Nice...........

Last time I looked on a map, N.Y. and L.A were not considered local.

GBK

well that's as close as you'll get to HD news for a while.  It's too expensive for the station to switch just yet.  maybe after the deadline.

Is there news in HD?

Or, the absence of same, several years ago, precipitated a call to "D".....It was being shown on the east coast, but not here. I really don't recall all the details. Suffice to say, they got some sort of waiver, and for $2.50 per month per month I get the feeds.

As an aside, I recently placed a call to "D" to inquire about the HD 70. Part of the litany was about HD locals. I told them that I get them OTA. According to the CSR, I would, at some point, have to choose between the locals or retain the ABC/FOX feeds from N.Y. If I chose to retain the distant feeds, that CBS & NBC from N.Y. could be added in their place.  I am curious if anyone else had the same discussion?

WDJT: Laughable, IMHO. They don't even bother to try and compete in the 6:00 timeslot. They seem to know they are and will perpetually be an "also ran" in this market, and I don't see them spending that much money to upgrade their news division.

Actually, WDJT might be one of the most-likely candidates for an HD upgrade... they have the smallest amount of equipment that would need to be changed. They have the fewest amount of cameras, trucks, you name it, they don't have it. But they also don't have money, which just completely hurts them as well.

So yeah, WISN/WTMJ. I don't think any of the Fox O&Os are doing news in HD yet so WITI wouldn't be anywhere on that list.

WJW Cleveland is in HD and WNYW's copter transmits HD pictures and they air on air.
